Barely sometime after introducing the facelifted version of its i20 hatchback, the South Korean automaker has launched the SportZ edition of its highly acclaimed Grand i10. It is made available with both petrol and diesel engine options among which, Hyundai Grand i10 CRDi SportZ Edition is its diesel trim. It is powered by the second generation U2, 1.1-litre CRDi engine that offers a maximum mileage of 24 Kmpl (as per ARAI certification). This latest variant is bestowed with a set of exclusive features in terms of both exteriors and interiors. In terms of its exteriors, this variant gets a set of stylish 14-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, a sporty rear spoiler and stylish body decals on its side profile. While the insides are done up with a new black and red dual color scheme, its seats are covered with premium full cloth upholstery. At the same time, the car maker has also provided Bluetooth connectivity with steering mounted controls. In addition to these, it also gets leather upholstery for the steering wheel, which further enhances its elegance. The car maker has launched this new edition to mark the first anniversary and to celebrate the sale of over 1.1 lakh units. It will now face the likes of Datsun GO, Nissan Micra, Renault Pulse and Toyota Etios Liva in the Indian automobile market.

Exteriors:

This newly introduced vehicle has a sporty external appearance owing to its stylish body graphics. The car maker has decorated its side profile with motorsport inspired decals along with SportZ edition lettering, which gives it a refined look. It also has eye-catching aspects like chrome plated door handles, body colored wing mirrors including and black B-pillars, which gives it an urbane appeal. The main highlight is that its wheel arches are equipped with a set of stylish 14-inch diamond cut alloy wheels that are further covered with radial tubeless tyres. Its rear profile looks to be the same like its existing Sportz variant, but the inclusion of a spoiler gives its a distinct look. Its windscreen is quite large and is surrounded by swept-back design taillight cluster. The rear bumper is very expressive as it houses a license plate console along with a pair of reflectors. Its front has a radiant headlight cluster that hosts powerful halogen headlamps and turn indicators. Its upper radiator grille is embedded with company's logo along with a horizontally positioned strip. While the lower grille has a hexagonal shape with black mesh and is surrounded by a pair of round shaped fog lamps.

Interiors:

This Hyundai Grand i10 CRDi SportZ Edition trim gets a new interior color scheme, which is amplified by metallic inserts. Its stylishly structured dashboard and its gearbox console along with door panels have red inserts , which gives a sporty appeal to the cabin. At the same time, its three spoke steering wheel is covered with leather upholstery and is mounted with Bluetooth and audio control switches. Furthermore, the car maker has covered the seats with a premium quality cloth upholstery that further adds to the plushness of its interiors. Its dashboard is quite large and houses a storage compartment, instrument panel, accessory power sockets and ergonomically positioned control switches. All the seats have integrated head rests, while the rear bench seat has folding facility that increases the boot storage capacity. Engine and Performance:

This variant is powered by a second generation U2, 1.1-litre diesel engine that has a displacement capacity of 1120cc. It comprises of 3-cylinders, 12-valves based on DOHC valve configuration and it receives fuel through a common rail injection system . It can produce a maximum power of 70bhp at 4000rpm that helps in generating a maximum torque output of 159.8Nm between 1500 to 2750rpm. This advanced engine is skilfully mated with a five speed manual transmission gearbox that delivers the torque output to its front wheels. The car maker claims that this engine has the ability to produce a maximum mileage of 24 kmpl, which is quite good.

Braking and Handling:

The manufacturer has given this variant an efficient braking and suspension mechanism, which keeps it well balanced at all times. Its front wheels have been equipped with a set of disc brakes , whereas the rear wheels are assembled with a set of conventional drum brakes. On the other hand, the front axle is fitted with a McPherson strut type of mechanism and its rear axle is paired with coupled torsion beam axle. This suspension mechanism is further accompanied by gas filled shock absorbers. It is blessed with a motor driven steering system, which is quite responsive and supports a minimum turning radius of 4.8 meters.

Comfort Features:

This Hyundai Grand i10 CRDi Sportz Edition trim is blessed with a lot of comfort aspects that makes the journey quite enjoyable. It has power windows with auto down function available on the driver's side. It has a multi information display that displays engine running time as well as average vehicle speed. The tilt steering wheel is wrapped with leather and is mounted with audio and Bluetooth controls . For in-car entertainment, there is a 2-DIN music system, which supports auxiliary input, USB port and Bluetooth connectivity. It also features a CD, MP3 player, radio tuner and has four speakers at front and rear. The manually operated air conditioning unit comes with a heater and it helps in regulating the cabin temperature.
