Spark 2007 2012 1.0 Review

General Motors India has always surprised the Indian car market with its products. Its Chevrolet Spark range has been doing well in the country since the time of its launch. The Chevrolet Spark 1.0 is the base variant of Chevrolet Spark. The car has compact looks, good engine specifications and definitely loaded with all the crucial comfort features. The engine here is 1.0 litre of petrol motor that is capable of churning out a good 61.8bhp of peak power at the rate of 5400rpm along with a maximum torque of 90.3Nm at the rate of 4200rpm.  The five speed manual transmission coupled with the engine help the car to give out a really good mileage figure, which make the car an ideal deal for a small family. The interiors of the Chevrolet Spark 1.0 are quite good, which comprise of all the basic comfort features like comfortable seating arrangement, air cooling system with heater, ample of legroom and headroom and so on . The car goes from 0 to 100kmph in merely 14.8 seconds at a top speed of 141kmph .

Braking and Handling

The braking and handling department of Chevrolet Spark 1.0 is also quite impressive. The braking system is good and comprise of disc brakes for the front along with self adjusting drum brakes for the rear. The entire braking system is very responsive. The handling of the car is enhanced with the suspension system that is present here. It comprises of McPherson Struts with Anti-roll bar type suspension for the front axle and the rear axle has Torsion Beam. The gas filled shock absorbers make sure that the handling of the car is smooth and absolutely trouble-free.

Safety features

The safety department of Chevrolet Spark 1.0 is not very appealing. The car misses out on numerous safety features. The anti lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution system, brake assist, airbags, day and night rear view mirror all these features are not present in the car. However, to save the grace, Chevrolet Spark 1.0 safety section comes with child door locks, power door locks, Halogen Headlamps, Rear Seat Belts, Door Ajar Warning, front and side impact beams, and Adjustable Seats.
