It has been nearly two years since General Motors launched the Sail twins in the country, and the model also happened to be on the company's priority list. The pricing was kept very aggressive for both the hatchback and sedan against its competition. The cars were spacious and built strongly with a rigid body structure. Both petrol and diesel engines were torquey and returned good fuel efficiency. But the twins failed to capture the hearts and mind of the population and they failed to reap benef

- Chevrolet SAIL 1.2
After 5 years with TATA vista petrol edition we decided to change the car because of the maintenance cost had accumulated and desire of another car. We made options of which ones to go for and came up with Swift : Not interested as it was already in the family. Wagon R: Not interested due to tall box design and wanted B segment car. i20: expensive for the our budget. i10: distance between steering wheel & driver seat was a issue. Grand i10: just launched. Beat: distance between steering wheel & driver seat was a issue. Celerio: Waiting period 6 months. Finally we decided with CHEVY SAIL PS after taking test drive (KLN automobiles ltd)with it. Decision time: Factors that led to it: First and foremost when you sit inside the driver side the space it offers and the seat is comfortable for 100+ kms drive without break. The back space is also ample comparable to TATA vista for 5 people and the seats are comfortable for a B segment car. The engine is 1.2 litre petrol engine is happy to be driven in sedate style can't expect outright performance but feel good performance. The gear was smooth comparable to Maruti swift with short throws and the it has optimum long gear ratios except for the first one where the engine makes more noise due to pickup and try to accelerate past cars. The pickup is sedate as it is launched as family car. Steering wheel is light and it picks up weight is high speed, is ok to drive in city and highway. The braking (leg & hand), clutch are easy to use and good grip offered by the default tyres Apollo which are easy city drive and the highway drive is smooth if it is not throttled hard. The dashboard plastic is adequate and the speedometer gives information of the kilometers, odometer, fuel level & rpm. It is clear and bright during day and night. There is a locker for storing in the left side of dashboard to front passenger. Bottle holders are there in the both front doors. Holders are present are present in all four doors. Hazard lights and braking lights are bright day and night. Headlamps are powerful and adequate. The door close with authority not comparable to Skoda Fabia, i20 but other B segment cars. By default car did not have audio system it was base model, aftermarket fittings, we installed Xenox door locks, JBL speakers with JVS mp3 player. the car had power windows for front doors only, manual for the back doors. it had spare tyre tucked in the boot and boot is spacious for two trolleys. We bought with 5 years of service warranty for extra money yet to get the letter from the head office in Mumbai. The servicing cost have been appropriate as such and with detailed usage and pricing has been adequate, no shocks till now and they usually give it within 24 hours. They gave a chevy bear doll looks cheap but a nice leather file organizer with manual and invoice.Read More

- Good package! with little things to worry :-(
This is my first review on this site. Hope it will be useful for you guys. I bought this car around May 2015. Let me describe my experience with the car. Exterior: Yes its not that much attractive with its smile fascia and appealing too but the aerodynamics for this segment is pretty good. The visibility of this head lights are pretty good at nights. Engine: I have took it for few long drives and it's pretty amazing to drive its cruising good in it's 100 kmph when it touches 120 kmph at it's max power it's riding quality and traction is really awesome. At my first 10000 kms pick up is not that much great for the petrol version comparing to other competitors in the market but after that the service personnel tuned it to perfection. You can get a 22 kmpl while you maintaining in 100 in highways and 15-17 kmpl in city according to traffic conditions(I drive around 50 kms daily in city). Interior: The interior is decent built and the audio system is quite good for default. This has the leather seats in the top variant and quality is good too. Air conditioning system is doing it's job fine in pretty hot conditions it's take us to switch to level 3 in fan speed to balance the heat. Back seats are really lovely for long drive no back aches till a 300 kms break. Boot! oh vow! what an lovely space we got here. It's really sufficient to pack a 4 baggage of travel case completely. Legroom is awesome for both the front and rear passengers. The placement of the power windows buttons was bit awkward at first because i am not used to that placement but once i started using it trust me it's really easy to use it without straining much like we have in the drive side door. PROS: 1) Good package for around 7lacs. 2) Great engine for those who are not performance car lovers but a commuter lovers. 3) Lovely aerodynamics. 4) Legroom 5) Back seat position 6) Boot space 7) Ride quality at high speeds 8) Braking 9) Low maintenance(for oil service it's getting charged for 3k to 5k max including other issues attended.) 10) Noise suppression is decent. CONS: Yes! not everyone is perfect. 1) Cabin light is not visible at the back. 2) Apollo tires believe me it's the worst night mare for long drives especially potty road conditions. 3) Ceiling metal is just really bad. It's just a thin layer of sheet. 4) If you are driving in little deep water during rain, the water will flow in through steering hole which is irritating. 5) The ground clearance, when u are travelling five and boot full, the speed brakers and the deep potholes making the body scratch. 6) Service centers, yes they are providing warranty just for sake for the first one year they are treating us like a gold member and from the second year there is a change in approach, if you need a faulty part have to be covered in warranty and get it replaced you have to literally lead a verbal war with these people. 7) Suspension could have been better. Verdict: Yes, it have few CONS but other than two major it's really a beautiful car to drive and hold to it for quite some time. I'll give a rating of 3 out of 5. Hope this is helpful! Good luck for you own car hunt.Read More
- Complete family car with Comfort and safety
I got my Chevy from Platinum Pune. I dislike Maruti at a greater extent, I do not know how long they will full the customers by selling off sourced engines to the customers. When I came to conclusion buying a car I had few technicals in mind, Length, Boot space, Extreme comfort, good built, reliability, Torque and Power of engine and off course the value for money. I started looking at Brands like Tata - ( they know nothing about monocoque chassis ), Hyundai - ( Pricing issue more than market rate for the same kind of engine configuration will Explain later! ), FoxWagan - ( German Albeit Servicing issue), Maruti ( Every sales man has Ego of high sales so they least worry about your reputation), Honda ( They are still do not know what is next after Honda City , Amaze and other product Time waste),Ford ( Need serious face lift to there all model) So there are two option Left Fiat and Chevrolet. These are manufacturer providing honest and Value for your hard earned money. I came across Chevrolet Sail. Now I would like to share explanation what I said about some other brands. - Sales team was very amicable & good to understand my need. They could have sold out Sail Sedan Car but suggested me to go for Hatchback. as we have three members in family. - After sales Service is Excellent and Shoroom Guys are quite resourceful and approachable. This car has total length of 3950 mm which pretty good & 100 mm greater than Swift. It'e has True hatchback design concept which add to comfort. Engine power is Pretty Good of 84 PS . Torque is 110 NM which good at it's side because Many people might not aware that Less PS Engine power and high engine Torque means there is risk directly ( Maruti Swift has 114 mm) to your engine crank shaft and it is really important to have balance torque. Suspension is very nicely tuned and there is no Clutter and Cling heard inside the Cabin which very Calm, while on highway. I have driven this car so far more than 6000 km, Ensuring it crossing all terrains ,bad patches or weathers but this hatch lived to it's name, it is reliable engine is very well tuned there is almost no noise, even at three digit speed, Honda Amaze has limit of 140 km Max. When you push the Throttle you do not feel lazy response like Hyundai Grand i10 or Brio or Amaze ( they are Amazingly lazy ) and their engine literally ask for Mercy to slow down at three digit speed. Inside of cabin it specious specially which not the case normally for other identical cars. When you actually sit behind the wheel of Swift Dezire or Swift or Grand i10 forget about space it is very complected and it is feel of cramp. But for Sail it is roomier than any other hatch in premier hatch engagement. Engine is very Frugal it delivers average of around 16 km/l on the highways. Boot is quite decent which is almost less that 300 L. but after folding seats of second row that increases to around 500 L. ( Quite interesting !) It is greater than any other identical product. Overall Bottom line is Chevrolet is truly value for money, and next car will Chevrolet Cruz ! Thanks ! Read More
