Beat 2014-2016 Diesel Manchester United Edition Review
Chevrolet India has officially launched the Manchester United Limited Edition of its popular hatchback model, Beat in India. This latest edition comes with significant updates in terms of both exteriors and interiors. Its exteriors are decorated with stylish body graphics along with Manchester United logo on its bonnet and side profile. It also has body colored roof rails along with a new set of alloy wheels. The insides have exclusive red colored leather upholstery featuring the franchise's signature engraved on it. This Chevrolet Beat Diesel Manchester United Edition trim also has features like illuminated scuff plates, reverse parking sensors and a 2-DIN music system including Bluetooth connectivity. Mechanically, this trim remains unchanged as the updates are limited to interiors and exteriors. Powering this variant is the same 1.0-litre diesel power plant that is mated with a five speed manual transmission gearbox. It has the ability to produce 57.6bhp in combination with a peak torque output of 150Nm. This vehicle comes with a standard warranty of 3-years or 100,000 kilometers, which can be extended at a nominal cost. It has an overall length of 3640mm along with a width of 1595mm and a total height of 1550mm (including roof rails). Its total wheelbase is 2375mm and the ground clearance is 175mm.
Exteriors:
The exteriors of this new version comes with a set of attractive features that makes it look sportier. To start with its front profile, it has signature dual-port radiator grille with chrome surround and is engraved with the company's gold plated badge . Its bonnet is elegantly decorated with trendy graphics along with the football club's logo. The front bumper is quite large and is fitted with a pair of dynamic fog lamps along with an air dam. Its aggressive headlight cluster is powered by halogen lamps along with turn indicators as well. Furthermore, its roof has a glossy black finish, which further emphasizes its exclusiveness. Its side profile gets extensive decals and its wheel arches are fitted with a new set of alloy wheels, which are further covered with tubeless radials. The front door handles along with the roof rails are in red, while the window sill and B pillar along with ORVM caps comes in black. Its rear profile has a black colored spoiler that is integrated with a stop lamp. The tailgate is quite small, but is decorated with graphics along with chrome inserts. The rear bumper gets a dual tone look owing to the black protective cladding and is further fitted with a pair of reflectors.
Interiors:
There are some significant updates made to the internal cabin, which gives it an ultra-modern look. This new Chevrolet Beat Diesel Manchester United Edition trim is blessed with red colored leather seat upholstery, which is further embossed with an exclusive Manchester United badge. Engine and Performance:
This variant comes equipped with the same 1.0-litre, XSDE diesel motor that has a displacement capacity of 936cc . It is based on double overhead camshaft valve configuration with 3-cyinders and 12-valves. This in-line engine has the ability to belt out a peak power of about 57.6bhp at 4000rpm that results in a commanding torque output of 150Nm at just 1750rpm. This motor is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox that enables the front wheels to draw torque output. The manufacturer claims that the vehicle can produce a maximum mileage of about 25.44 kmpl. This vehicle takes only about 15.5 seconds to break a 100 kmph speed mark from a standstill and it can achieve a top speed in the range of 130 to 140 kmph.
Braking and Handling:
This front axle has been paired with McPherson strut, while its rear has been equipped with compound crank. As far as braking is concerned, its front wheels have been equipped with disc brakes and the rear ones have been fitted with drum brakes . On the other hand, this vehicle is integrated with a highly responsive power assisted steering system that supports a minimum turning radius of just 4.85-meters.
Comfort Features:
This Chevrolet Beat Diesel Manchester United Edition comes with all the basic comfort features. The list of features include a power steering with tilt adjustment, a proficient air conditioning unit, 60:40 split folding rear seats and internally adjustable outside rear view mirrors.
