A4 2012-2016 35 TDI Premium Sport Review
The A4 is a series of compact executive cars produced by the German auto giant, Audi. The vehicle has spawned four generations upto date, and has consistently been a positively ranked model from this company. The vehicle is assembled in production plants across the globe, and is distributed worldwide. Among the range of variants the model is offered in, a notable one is the Audi A4 35 TDI Premium Sport . This variant is powered by a TDI diesel engine that enables good performance, while at the same time promoting better fuel efficiency. A highlight of this powerplant is that it fulfills the EU6 emission standard, ensuring cleaner fuel yield. Coming to the looks of the car, the saloon is built with the dynamics of a sports car. Its low and streamlined profile makes for a more emphasized look, while at the same time improving speed and agility. The interiors of the vehicle are designed on better ergonomics, giving a blend of stylish looks and functional convenience features. The seats are comfortably designed and wrapped in fine upholstery. Meanwhile, the rest of the cabin is decorated with a mixture of many impressive materials and accents, further adding to the plush environment. There is a stereo unit that fulfills the entertainment requirements of the cabin, and this goes along with numerous other advanced features that improve ride quality and enhance customer satisfaction.
Exteriors:
The front design carries a striking glossy black grille with the company's marque upon it. Flanking this on either side are stylish headlamps. These are integrated with Xenon plus light units, along with a unique cleaning system for optimum visibility. The wide air intakes along with the S line reinforced bumpers also make for great looks by the front. By the sides of the vehicle, the outside mirrors are in body color paint and the window frames are of glossy black finish. The vehicle comes with impressive side rocker moldings, also in glossy black. The S line logo on the wheel fenders add quality to its design, and beneath them, the 17 inch multi spoke sports alloy wheels are dashing in appearance. The rear section of the vehicle is of a more muscular tone. The tail lamps are equipped with turn indicators and courtesy lights for standard road safety measures. The rear diffuser is designed in glossy black for added appeal.
Interiors:
The cabin space is intelligently designed wherein the seats are comfortably modeled and covered in plush leather upholstery. Walnut dark brown inlays further enrich the cabin, adding to the plush environment. The 4 spoke multifunction steering wheel is wrapped in leather, adding value to the driver's experience. Also, there are door still trims with aluminum inlays that carry the S line logo. The instrument cluster is of an attractive design, and it hosts numerous advanced functions for optimum passenger convenience. There are headrests for all the seats, providing support to all occupants.
Engine and Performance:
The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that is fitted through the common rail fuel injection system. It has four cylinders integrated together, which displaces about 1968cc. In addition to this, it generates a maximum power of 177bhp at 4200rpm, along with a peak torque of 380Nm at 1750rpm to 2500rpm. The torque output of the engine is channeled through an efficient multitronic transmission that enables flawless performance. Altogether, the engine yields a mileage of about 17.11 kmpl, which is an impressive value indeed.
Braking and Handling:
Its braking mechanism is of good quality, as the front wheels are armed with ventilated discs, while the rear brakes are equipped with discs. As for the suspension system, the front axle is gifted with a five link suspension system that comes along with upper and lower wishbones and an anti roll bar for optimum ride comfort. As for the rear axle, there is an independent trapezoidal suspension system that also enhances shock absorption for improved ride stability.
Comfort Features:
Foremost among the comfort function that the car offers is an Audi music interface. This system offers USB input, MP3 player facility, and allows for connection to Apple iPods. The music from this system is channeled through the Audi sound system, which carries 10 speakers and a 6 channel amplifier for optimum music quality. Beside this, there is a concert radio system, which is present along with a CD drive and allows for 30 station presets. There is a driver information display at the front with color displays, which provides important information regarding the drive. An MMI navigation system allows for hassle free, well informed driving. This is further aided by a 6.5 inch color display that offers high quality map representation, numerous options, and dynamic route guidance facility. A Bluetooth interface elevates the ride quality by allowing for musical streaming within the cabin and for hosting calls as well. Cruise control brings added convenience to the driver along with safety. Beside all of this, a 3 zone deluxe automatic air conditioning system provides a delightful ride atmosphere throughout.
Safety Features:
A fully galvanized body formation minimizes hazards faced during collision. This features crumple zones and aluminum front wings for improved protection. Full sized airbags are present at the front for both passengers, in addition to side airbags for optimum shielding. The car also features a head airbag system for fullest safety of all passengers. Three point inertia reel seat belts are present for all seats, and their function is further enhanced with belt force limiters and seat belt tensioners. For improved traction, the car has an anti slip regulation function, which brings down the spinning of the rear wheels and improves stability. In addition to this, an electronic differential lock feature enforces safety on slippery grounds. Anti lock braking system improves the braking performance of the car by collaborating with an electronic brakeforce distribution function. A tyre pressure monitoring system provides data regarding the condition of the tyre, thereby minimizing potential hazards facing under-conditioned tyres. In addition to all of this, anti theft wheel bolts allow for the security of the vehicle as well.
Pros:
1. Attractive body structure and elegance interiors.
3. Excellent mileage characteristics.
Cons:
1. The car's interiors could use a more plush decoration.
