Honda Motors has begun with the lease sales for their Fit EV to local government and businesses in Japan (remember… Honda Fit, our very own Honda Jazz, that’s the model we are talking about here). The Fit EV is taking the potential of electric vehicles further, following the EV Plus, first introduced in 1997 for lease sales. Honda plans to lease nearly 200 units of the Fit EV in the next 2 years.
With the Fit EV, Honda has used best of technology and innovations cultivated through research and development with regards to electric mobility products including electromotive powertrain technologies. The technology all together makes Honda’s latest hybrid and fuel cell electric vehicle a commendable one. The electric vehicle with its compact body size and comfort also delivers an efficient drive and with one charge can deliver a mileage of 225kms in JC08 mode.
2013 Honda Fit EV hatchback will come with an electric motor delivering a power of 123bhp. The transmission on the vehicle will be a single speed direct drive with three mode driving system. The Honda Fit EV is expected to drive in sometime in 2013 and currently it is available only on lease at USD 389-a-month lease which is close to Rs. 21,566 approximately. The estimated price for Fit EV is however is somewhere close to USD 37,415 which is approximately Rs. 20.74 Lakh.
The Honda Fit of our country, Honda Jazz is available in petrol version (obviously!) at a price range of Rs. 5.75 Lakh to Rs. 6.41 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The 1198cc drivetrain of the Indian Jazz delivers a mileage of 16kmpl approximately and is considered to be a very good looking, comfortable and spacious hatchback. Wonder will Honda’s next endeavor will be the Electric Jazz after the diesel version…now that’s some futuristic thinking…ain’t it!
