Rexton RX6 Review
Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton is one of the luxurious SUV available in the Indian automobile market and it is doing quite well for the auto maker. The car maker has introduced another variant in its model series christened as Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton RX6 , which is powered by the same 2.7-litre diesel motor. It can produce a maximum power of 162bhp, while generating a peak torque of 340Nm. This trim comes with a set of fourteen new features including a leather package, an 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat, electric sun roof, speed sensitive power steering and much more. It also has advanced safety aspects like front and side airbags, anti-slip regulation, electronic stability program and active roll over protection. This trim comes with the same body structure like the other variants and is equipped with striking aspects like 'eagle eye' shaped projector headlamps, 'L' shaped parking lights with Rexton emblem, sporty antenna, scuff plates with Rexton lettering, rear spoiler and several other aspects. At present, the manufacturer is offering this luxury SUV in four body paint options including Opulent Purple, Satin White, Volcano Black and a Moondust Silver metallic finish for the buyers to choose from.
Exteriors:
This newly introduced Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton RX6 gets the same body design and structure like its other trims. To start with, its rear profile looks a bit unconventional, but still is attractive, thanks to the curvy windscreen, an elegantly crafted boot lid with Rexton emblem and LED tail lamps with L shaped parking lights. The rear bumper has a dual color scheme and it is further equipped with reflectors. Also, it is fitted with a spoiler accompanied with stop lamp, which amplifies the rear profile. Its side facet looks sleek yet muscular, thanks to the well molded wheel arches that are fitted with a sturdy set of 10-spoke alloy wheels that augments the elegance of its sides. Here, the window sills and the B pillars are in black color, whereas the window waistline molding are in chrome. The company has equipped a lot of styling and utility aspects including body colored ORVMs with integrated LED turn indicators , body colored door handles and stainless steel side stepper with rubber inserts. Its front facade is quite trendy and is fitted with elegantly crafted cosmetics. The center of the frontage is fitted with a chrome plated grille embossed with the company's logo and it is surrounded by eagle-eye shaped headlight cluster that is incorporated with LED projector headlamps. The front bumper looks very sleek, but it is quite large, thanks to a dual tone color scheme.
Interiors:
The manufacturer has done a good job with the interiors by using high quality plastic and leather upholstery. Its interiors have beige and black color scheme, which is further emphasized by metal grain inserts. The dashboard has a plain design and is integrated with a neatly structured central console that is further equipped with an infotainment system, AC unit and other control switches . It is also equipped with utility aspects like storage compartment, cup holders and accessory power sockets. The four spoke steering wheel is wrapped with leather upholstery and is equipped with audio and call function buttons, which provides convenience to the driver. This latest trim gets a comfortable seating arrangement, wherein the seats are covered with premium beige leather upholstery. The second row seats are fitted with 60:40 split seats, while the third row is equipped with foldable seats, which will help in increasing the luggage storage area. The manufacturer has equipped the cabin with a lot of utility aspects including floor mats, front sun visors with vanity mirrors, sunglass holder, coat hook, reading lamps, cigarette lighter and numerous other aspects.
Engine and Performance:
The all new Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton RX6 is equipped with 2.7-litre diesel engine that complies with BSIV emission norms. The torque output is transmitted to the front wheels via a five speed manual transmission gearbox. It is also incorporated with torque on demand function that switches from 2WD drive type to 4WD option when needed. This engine enables the vehicle to reach a top speed of 180 Kmph, while breaching the 100 Kmph mark from a standstill in 10.92 seconds.
Braking and Handling:
This trim is blessed with a proficient disc braking mechanism, where its front wheels are equipped with ventilated disc brakes, while its rear ones have been fitted with conventional disc brakes. The manufacturer has equipped this trim with anti lock braking system and accompanied it with electronic stability program with an off switch , which reinforces the braking mechanism. Its front axle is fitted with double wishbone system, while the rear rear axle is equipped with a 5-link suspension system. Both the front and rear axles are further loaded with anti-roll bars, which will reduce its rolling motion and keeps the vehicle well balanced.
