Audi is just the vehicle you can trust with a vehicle such as this. The SQ5 is supposedly a stronger, more super-charger version of the Q5, and we've got fresh news about the vehicle which was on display in the Auto Expo 2016. You know when you look at a vehicle like this that there's some real allure in it. Its powerful look, its grand sculpture, lavish interiors and slew of comfort features are sure to make it sizzle in the market when released. Until then, we're going to give you everything we uncovered about the vehicle and its various facets.
1. Masculine exterior look, sure to appeal to youngsters
2. Large and spacious interior design.
1. Its price range is sure to put some people off.
2. The single tone interior scheme might not go as attractive to many of today's buyers.
1. It is sure to come with a wide variety of comfort and entertainment features, including Navigation, Bluetooth, Audio and many more, and isn't this the thing of the hour right now?
When you take a look at this vehicle, you feel a powerful allure draw you to it. We'll admit, we found it rather astonishing that the company had taken this long to launch this machine here. The international version is one of the finest comfort vehicles out there. MIM Navigation plus with voice control, Bluetooth streaming, an Audi Connect system, a Bang & Olufsen audio system and a range of other jaw-dropping features together make this car a pretty intense feat. We'd like to warn you as we delve into its description that everything here is purely speculative, for the features of the Indian version have not been confirmed by the company yet.
The masculine and towering profile of the machine has been slit with some delicate features here and there, and we personally loved that. Images of the vehicle published on news channels abroad give you a pretty solid vision of the vehicle's appearance. The overall proportions are pretty neat and balanced, and this brings a more eye catching element to the fore.
At the front, the large bonnet has been creased with serene lines, and we thought this added to the profic texture of the machine's build. The refined curvatures that run across the bonnet, flowing into the sides, bring a more vigorous impression as well.
A sportier aura is exuded by the sloped back windscreen, which perfectly plays into the slender and graceful posture of the vehicle. Most people would be surprised to find the vehicle invokes a younger, racier spirit in people, but it does just that. The streamlined alignment, together with the delicate treatment, energises the car's modern appeal.
The wide grille at the front was great, and in some of the photos, we were delighted to find some chrome themes by the grille. On either side, the headlamps have a lean shape that makes for a fierce image at the front.
The air inlets at the bottom have also been shaped to go in harmony with the front face, and most people would love the sporty flavour of their design. Fog lamps have also been incorporated at the bottom, but right now, we can't be sure if this will also be present for the Indian version.
By the side, the masculine wheel archs and the stylish design of the rims bring a more vibrant spirit to the machine, and we know for one that the younger generation would pay massive attention to such small details. A single line sweeps through the lower portion of the body-side, and we thought this diversified the vehicle's expression.
Meanwhile, at the rear, you're sure to love the clean tail-lamps that stretch all the way from the sides of the body into the tail-gate. The four rings of the company rest by the focus of the tail-gate, and this finishes off what most people would agree is a rather eminent design sculpture.
Right now, the interiors highlights of the vehicle have not been released. However, we've flushed out reasonable detail from online sources to chart a vague picture for you. The interior colour scheme is indicated to be an all black one, and most people would find this generously attractive. We personally have to agree, going by pictures that we've seen on the web.
At the front, the dashboard gently slides down, creating a more visually fulfilling picture. Uniquely designed AC vents are propped on both sides of the vents. The centre console hosts a large navigation screen at the top, and most people would welcome the modern tone this builds within the car.
Right below it are two additional vents, and we personally liked the ingenuity of the design layout here. The radio system is housed below this, with a slender screen and buttons spread over it. We personally felt that the instruments stretched over the front console strike an artistic cord that adds to the beauty of the place.
By the corner, the steering wheel comes with a sharp sporty design that'll surely have your attention, with the four Audi rings at the centre.
Ahead of it, the instrument cluster houses the tachometer and the speedometer, and the illumination seems to be just appropriate.
Meanwhile, the seating arrangement would be bolstered with the presence of many facilities, and we know for one that this manufacturer is not the type that to fall shot on comfort. You'd be more than justified in expecting lumbar support, adjustable facility, headrests, armrests and many more, in addition to the rich upholstery that lavishes the space.
The model showcased in the 2016 Auto Expo comes along with a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol engine that is built on the lines of the motor in the Audi S5 model. Its specifications are pretty clean, we'd hand that to them; 345ps at 6000rpm to 6500rpm of power, together with 470Nm of torque at 4000rpm to 4500rpm is sure-shot class for a machine of this segment. Compared to earlier versions released in the international market, this train gives an increased power but a lower torque. In the end, the driver behind the wheel's got to ask himself what kind of engine performance, and what kind of drive quality he's looking for when revving this machine. Along with this grind-machine comes an 8-speed automatic transmission, and we're sure most people would love to taste the relief of a shifter like this one.
Ride and Handling:
Going by the specifications of the international version, the front arm of the chassis comes with a five-link front S model sports suspension. Meanwhile, the rear has been rigged with a trapezoidal-link S model sports suspension. Going by the reviews online, the handling quality is better than most would expect. However, after being imported to Indian roads, the vehicle is sure to suffer from a few bruises due to potholes and other anomalies. The steering response is supposed to be particularly good, while the body-roll is apparently lesser than other machines of its size. Overall, the handling/ride comfort is supposed to be just what you'd expect from an Audi machine, which is great.
Aside from the conventional airbags, seatbelts, strong disc brakes and many other features, this vehicle is to go a mile extra and bring some advanced aids to the table. First is the Audi adaptive cruise control system that comes along with 'stop and go' function. This is sure to boost safety as well as handling for the driver. Next, there should also be an Audi side assist, which works to prevent mishaps that occur due to close-range vehicles. You'd also be safe in expecting the conventional ABS/EBD and ESC among many other facilities that cars of this day just don't do without.
Variantsa nd Verdict:
We can't chance a guess with respect to the variants or the trim levels, but we're sure that the machine would be available in a genuine series that allow people to choose according to their needs. At the end of the day, well before its launch date, the Audi SQ5 has got the entire market going. We've got to admit, we're pretty impressed with the machine's overall flavour. It's got us counting the days go by before its release, and we're sure that many more who have experienced the vehicle in the Expo feel the same. As for now, all we can do is sit back and wait for the machine to be set loose in India before we begin the real analysis.
