Tata to begin electric car production in Q1 of 2011

Tata's most awaited product, Tata Indica Vista EV will enter the commercial production process in the first quarter of 2011. Tata Indica Vista EV is the first electric car by the renowned car maker Tata. The news was disclosed by Tata officials at an SME conference organized by the Indian High Commission.

At the SME conference the Director of Marketing and Commercialization of TMERC (Tata Motors European Research Centre), Omar Hadded said that the product is designed to target International markets like UK.

With this, the electric car or call it a mini truck Ace will enter the production process by next month. The officials were found flaunting the stand out fuel cell technology used in the model. They claimed that this technology is one of the best among auto makers round the globe.

The product will be carrying different price tag in different countries. Tata Indica Vista EV will be sold for £29,000, bench marked with the industry norms. Coming to ACE EV, it will cost around £13,000-14,000. in UK, Vista EV will get subsidy of £5,000 and final user will get it for £24,000.

TMERC was created five years back and with that it has come up with this product in order to fulfill its commitment of manufacturing environment friendly car.

Tata Indica Vista EV is designed to seat four passengers at a time and space is provided for the luggage as well. The car can run at a maximum speed of 110 km per hour. You can rely on the model for all safety standards with Li-ion super polymer batteries. The recharge of this car will take a time span of 8 hours and can run 160 Km on one full battery charge. This amazing model has already spread its magic in the world of cars by grabbing two major awards (in the category of future cars). The car was nominated for the most economic passenger electric vehicle in London.

Moving from the electric vehicle to the electric vehicle maker, Tata has lately come in headlines for recalling Tata Nano cars to fix the defects which has caused it to catch fire.
