M&M, SsangYong to share dealership overseas

Country’s leading utility vehicle manufacturer, Mahindra and Mahindra envisages increasing its presence globally in the various markets with the help of the recently acquired SsangYong Motors. M&M, with its wholly owned subsidiary, SsangYong will share its dealerships across the world to showcase their products together, but at the same time will maintain the distinction between their models. With the combined dealership programme, they foresee to enhance their growth by four times to 20% by 2016. Mahindra SsangYong Rexton, the new car readying to hit Indian market next year, will depict the synergies between the two.

Both the tycoons hope to go hand in hand to enterprise their models seeking help from each other. SsangYong has its established presence in the European markets apart from 35 other markets, where it exports its cars seamlessly. On the other hand, M&M has completely owned distribution wing in South Africa and with the recently acquired fame with XUV 500, the company has garnered unparalleled response in the country besides Europe and Australia. Presently Mahindra and Mahindra has XUV 500 and Xylo MUV in the utility vehicle segment and Genio range in the commercial vehicle segment offered in South Africa, while Mahindra Scorpio and Bolero are exported to countries like Italy and Spain.  Apart from this, M&M has its assembly units through third party manufacturers in the countries like Egypt and Brazil. SsangYong, which is primarily an SUV manufacturer, anticipates gaining its presence in the countries, where M&M has attained enough market share.

The renowned automobile manufacturer, M&M has developed Genio truck range in the commercial vehicle segment and Mahindra XUV 500 in the passenger car segment considering the global scenario for the first time to improve its brand image across the world. Now, they hold two weapons in hand with the potential to compete against the overseas models. M&M hopes to delve into new markets like Europe, Australia, Chile and Brazil with their two new products to mark their prominent impression in respective segments.  Speaking on behalf of M&M, the Chief Executive of International Marketing, Pravin Shah had asserted that maintaining the thin line of separation between the SsangYong and M&M cars, they hope to flourish in the international markets mutually.  He averred that they are targeting a few markets with the help from the Korean auto major, particularly in the South East Asian countries like Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines which are dominated by Japanese car manufacturers.
