Maruti India, country's largest car maker is planning to launch an upgraded version of its second most popular car, Maruti Wagon R in India by April 15th. The upgraded version of the wagon R is the third generation of this vehicle which will be launched with the latest 1.0 liter K-Series engine to which the company is using in Maruti A-Star and Zen Estilo.
The new car will be launched with a new and stiffer chassis which will improve the riding the and handling experience. Besides this the company has used tailored blanks in whole body of the car which has been designed with sandwiched and layered pieces of steel which in turn helps in providing stiffness. The new version is more specious compare to previous Wagon R model. The size of the front grill has been increased which is somewhat similar to the Maruti Zen Estilo model. Besides this the air flow to the engine has been increased.
In interiors the model has been given a complete new look with sport dual tone. With this the car is coming with a new steering wheel which is similar to the popular Maruti Swift. Though there is no declaration from the company's side related to price of the model but it is expected that the model will be launched with a higher price tag compare to the existing model.
After its launch in India the updated model will be competing with popular small cars in India including Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo and upcoming Nissan Micra.
Updates :- Maruti India today (12th April 2010) announced that it is going to launch its new Wagon R model on April 23rd. The new Wagon R model will be launched with the latest K-Series engine of the Maruti, which will make it compatible to the new emission norms BS-IV. Besides this, Maruti is also in the process of launching updated versions of its most popular cars in India including Maruti Alto.
