Maruti SX4 output reinstated

After around one month impasse at the Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar plant, the production of the sedan Maruti SX4 has finally been resumed. The production of the model had been hindered due to the ongoing labour unrest since August 29th. However, the issue is not yet resolved as the MSI management and the workers stay adamant on their positions. The MSI management has replaced the unrelenting workers with 120 experienced and trained workers to speed up the production at the plant.

Now, the Maruti India's flagship model Maruti Swift is said to reach 725 units mark to meet the demand. While the focus of management had lied with Maruti Swift production, the MSI has decided to ramp up the production of other models as well. The operations at the Manesar Plant B in the second shift are expected to begin shortly. The production at the Plant B is reported to have started partly as of now. Two rounds of talks between the worker representatives from MUKU and the management have been held, yielding no results as yet. The workers have demanded to recognize their proposed union Maruti Suzuki Employee Union (MSEU) apart from taking back the 62 dismissed and suspended employees.

However, the management has agreed to take back just 29 of the employees, dismissing the rest of 34 employees without pressing any charges against them. The Manesar plant workers did not agree to sign the good conduct bond yet, which includes the clause that the workers will not indulge in sabotaging the production at the plant including the quality. The production of other models affected by the current agitation at the plant are Maruti A-star, Maruti Swift and Maruti SX4.
