Honda has started taking booking for its upcoming MPV Mobilio with an upfront payment of Rs 51,000 for both petrol and diesel model. In a desperate move to conquer the growing MPV segment, the manufacturer is keen to launch the Mobilio in next couple of weeks. We have checked out with few dealers in Delhi and Jaipur and they confirmed that the booking of Honda Mobilio has started. Though in cities such as Pune and Mumbai, the booking will start in few days.

The Japanese manufacturer has first unveiled its MPV in the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. It will lock horns with the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia. After capturing the C segment with City, the company now looks forward to capture the growing MPV sector.

The Mobilio is build on the Brio platform and provides high degree of comfort with features such as second row A/c vents for faster cabin cooling and rear seat split to adjust that extra luggage. The MPV has an ample space for seven passengers besides leaving decent space for your luggage.

The exterior of the Mobilio gets the company's latest "EXCITING H DESIGN!!!" which is used in the 4th generation Honda City, launched in January this year. With the dimension figures of 4386mmX1683mmX1603mm, the MPV does not come under the sub 4 meter range and thus does not gets excise duty benefits but that is not much of an issue as its rival are in the same group. The interior traces its roots from Brio hatch with subtle upmarket alterations. The dual tone interior with top notch fit and finish adds more to its elegance. The MPV also features 60:40 rear seat split which further enhances the boot space.

The manufacturer will launch the MPV in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The petrol model will carry either company's tried and tested 1.5-litre, i-VTEC or the 1.2-litre, i-VTEC engine which also does duty in Honda Amaze. While the diesel model will house the company's latest sensation- the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine, first used in Amaze and later followed in the new Honda City.

The petrol model comes with an option of manual or CVT gearbox while the oil burner model only comes with manual transmission. The MPV will be manufactured in Honda's production plant situated in Greater Noida. As the MPV will be pitched against Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Chevrolet Enjoy, we can expect Mobilio to be launched in the same price range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
