Apollo Tyres rolls out one millionth tyre from Chennai unit

The automobile industry last year enjoyed splurging sales which also lifted the sales of the ancillary industries. The tyre industries enjoyed the accelerating sales of tyres in 2010. Apollo Tyres, one of the biggest manufacturers of tyres in India sold out its one millionth tyre from the company's manufacturing unit at Oragadam.

Apollo began its commercial manufacturing at its facility 10 months back. The company last night set the mark and crossed the manufacturing for the passenger car tyre Apollo Acelere 185/65 R14.

The reports mentioned the statement from Satish Sharma, the Operations-Chief, Apollo Tyres  who said that the company's Chennai Team has achieved great success in a short while. He said with confidence that this is the first milestone for the company and many are yet to be achieved.

As per the reports, it also mentioned that Apollo Tyres sometime back stamped a MoU with the Tamil Nadu government for revising the current investment from Rs 450 crore to Rs 2,100 crore for the coming five years. The report further revealed that Apollo will employ around 2,000 people directly and indirectly in the manufacturing unit. The Chennai manufacturing plant manufacturers 7,000 passenger car tyres and 1,300 truck bus radial tyres every day.
