I made the final call on buying a Toyota Corolla Altis in November 2009 and am so happy that finally my close call has proved right. The car that I requested was the ?G? variant that has everything you need - except the xenon headlamps with washers, eight-way driver seat adjustment and leather seats. As a part of marketing strategy, the dealer gave me some goodies like parking sensors, sunfilms, mats etc. The car has got extremely distinct looks when compared to its contemporaries like Civic with sleek and modern looks. Whenever one takes a peak at the looks of the car, one thing that strikes everyone is the curvy back of the car which is undoubtedly because of the large boot space that the car provides. The ?G? variant offers good quality 6-CD MP3/CD changer with steering audio controls, A/C with climate control, electrically adjustable/retractable ORVMs with turn indicators, glass integrated antenna, a lot of storage space, center armrests with cupholders on front/rear seats, a better looking console etc as features. There are two SRS airbags and the braking system is with ABS and EBD. The car offers a wide range of features that would need a large space to be mentioned in detail, however the ones I have mentioned here are the ones that appeal me the most. Over the past 1 year there was never an incidence when I heard my car rattle or vibrate even at high speeds. The car has a good ground clearance and also I never found its chasis touch the road, an advantage it has over Honda Civic. In short some of the most important features for which I suggest you to opt for Corolla Altis is an amazing Ground clearance which is the best in the segment. The riding comfort is superb perhaps because of the passenger friendly suspension. Amongst the same range cars in the Petrol versions, Corolla offers a good mileage. Not to forget the car comes with a tag at least a Lakh less than Honda Civic. The only area that I was dissatisfied with is the steering as it makes me feel unsafe at higher speeds.
