Today there are several players in the automobile space and it becomes quite hard to choose one for yourself as car buying it's a onetime decision in many years. I recently got posted in an IT company which was about 15 kilometres from my residence. As per my monthly income, I can only afford a good hatchback, not more than that. I was having a budget of Rs. 6-7 lakhs and I wanted a fully equipped hatchback in this price range. Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Baleno top model was going out of my budget and the only two options remaining in front of me was newly launched Santro and Wagon R. Honestly, I never liked Wagon R, I don't know why people are so crazy about the radical design, but this is a subjective matter. Choosing between the new Santro and Tata Tiago was really a difficult job, but the only thing that restrained me from buying Santro was the less powerful engine. So, finally, I made my decision by buying Tata Tiago top end dual-tone plus model. The car was delivered within the first 10 days of booking it without any hitch. I would like to say that the carmaker has put plenty of efforts on the quality aspects be it exteriors or interiors. Tiago has a robust build design with apt proportions as compared to most of its flimsy rivals. The car features hexagonal grille finished in glossy black with chrome outlining at the front. The dual-barrel projector headlamps gel nicely with the grille. I have purchased the top of the range model, I got a dual-tone exterior colour option, Canyon Orange to be specific. The side profile gets 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels which really attract the eyeballs anywhere I go. The side body moulding enhances the look further. At the rear, chrome accent on the tailgate, spread-out taillights and black spoiler give the car a sporty stance. And really, the exterior profile is unmatched if you put Santro, Celerio or Wagon R side by side. Inside, the cabin is nicely finished with dual-tone soft touch theme on the dashboard and textured interiors lending the car a swanky feel. In terms of gadgetry, hats off to Tata for giving everything a daily commuter with small family need. The car gets 7-inch  ConnectNext touchscreen infotainment system powered by Android Auto. The infotainment comes with several state of the art tech such as Juke and MapMyIndia apps for synchronizing and displaying navigation data. The Tiago also gets automatic climate control, electrically foldable/adjustable ORVM, cooled glove box, height adjustable driver seat, steering mounted controls and a lot of storage spaces that really makes it a practical car. Further, the dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control and rear parking sensors with display makes it one of the safest vehicles in its segment. Now, the most important aspect of this car i.e. performance, I would like to say that this car is a well thought product. The car sources its power from the 1.2L Revotron petrol engine which produces 85PS and 114Nm of max torque. And since it?s a petrol engine, it delivers claimed mileage of 23.84kmpl as against 27.38kmpl of the diesel one. In the real world, I am getting 18-19kmpl which is still excellent given my daily requirements. The Tiago offers decent ride quality by dismissing potholes and other undulations cleverly. All an all, Tata Tiago is a true value for money car available at the unbeatable price range of Rs. 4.21 - 6.49 Lakh.
