Great City Diesel Car
It is a perfect diesel car if you are looking for a very comfortable, and super luxurious car with excellent drivability in city conditions. I bought Grand i10 top model with optional features (Astra O ) 3 years back just when it was launched in India. It was my 2nd car and supposed to be driven by my wife most of the time in and around the city. The decision of buying this car was almost instant and we did not even care for a test ride before making a purchase decision mainly because we knew that the Hyundai cars are good to drive however the fit and finish of this car are exceptionally good and we especially admired the features like: - Bluetooth hands-free Phone connectivity with controls on steering, the sound and reception are exceptionally good ( even after 3 years , it works like charm) - Electronically adjustable and folding OVRMs , ( Folds every time we lock vehicle, Never failed in 3 years even after manual abuse by cleaners etc.) - Cabin Space is exceptionally good ( It is surprising to see how spacious this car is from inside with wide opening doors for easy entry and exit, Much more space in rear if compared to Swift/DZire ) - Rear AC Vents ( My Kid loves this feature, It cools the cabin in less than 1 minute, My kid do not sit in DZire rear seats just because of this feature) - Exceptionally good boot space, more than swift (slightly small if compared to Dzire) - Air Bags ( Passenger and Passenger), ABS - Seamless wireless connectivity with Apple phones for music streaming. - Great Music system and steering mounted controls as well as 1GB internal storage. - Good and sturdy built quality ( Much thicker and heavier doors as compared to Dzire) - Last and not the least ( Keyless entry and start and stop button) apart for all other standard stuff like power windows, rear wiper and defogger, Fog Lights, Vanity mirror for co-passenger, Cooled Glove Box, Light in the Boot, Diamond cut alloys, leather wrapped Steering, rear parking sensors etc. As I mentioned above , this car is a class apart if Features, space and built quality is considered and what matters the most is how it drives and what it costs to do that. Well, It is a car with Lightweight alloy 3 cylinders 1200 CC Diesel engine mated to 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6th gear for reverse. 1st thing I would like to mention about the drive is that its clutch is amazingly light and gear throws are very small and co- passenger may think it is automatic gearbox just by looking at gear nob and very short hand movements for changing gears. The configuration of gears is such that you do not need to change the gears too often if you like to drive in a relaxed manner and you may not need the 5th Gear in the City since it is only needed if driven over 80Kmph ( Meter shows if the car wants you to change gears ). Overall comfortable car with good Gear ratio, nice suspension (neither too soft nor very hard ) , good seats and great ergonomics and even large bottle holders in all 4 doors. Special Mention : Brakes are excellent as compared to Maruti vehicles. One special thing I would like to mention here is that this vehicle is very peppy and responsive and you may forget it is a diesel vehicle, however, there are some downsides also that we have come to know during our 3 years of experience with the vehicle. Cons : 1. Slight vibrations and typical 3 cylinder noise when the engine is cold ( during early mornings or initial few min on the first drive of the day) 2. Lack of pickup/ shudder if the car is accelerated in a hurry on 1st Gear when AC is ON. 3. Fuel consumption in the city is slightly more as compared to Swift, however, better mileage on highways (up to 23 Km/L) . 4. Steering is very light and feels very easy in the city at lower speeds but not as inspiring on highways at speeds beyond 100 Kmph. 5. Seats have lesser cushioning/no lumber support and better to install thick seat covers ( I have not done it since it may compromise on otherwise great ergonomics). Not very good for longer drives. Conclusion : We love and prefer this vehicle for its features and driving comfort in short city drives as well as smaller dimensions however we avoid it on highways for long drives and take our Dzire for some high-speed drive.

- Feature Packed Hatch from Hyundai. Value for Money! It has been almost 3 years since I started driving my Car. I have driven Close to 25000 Km. When the thought of buying a small hatch came to my mind, I was looking at Polo from the beginning. But Soon grand i10 was launched. Seeing the list of features that this less value car had to offer my mind started thinking whether I should go for Polo or not. When I went for the test drive, I literally fell for this car because of the Interior quality that it offered and also the features that it had. At this price point, no car was even close to this at that point of time. Even now when you compare the features it is way ahead, for Ex. the request sensors are there on both the door handles for Asta Trim. The much more premium sibling from Hyundai, Creta is only providing it on the driver side door handle even in the Top Trim. So far the overall experience with the car has been good. It's very easy to Drive, especially in City traffic. While driving on the highways you will feel a little lack of power when trying to overtake other vehicles. But I hardly do more than two highway trips per month and most of my driving is within the City limits and hence I am really happy with my Car. The ride quality at high speed is stable and confident. The refinement levels of the Petrol Engine is excellent. There is absolutely no noise or vibration when the car is idle. At times you will be in doubt whether the car is on or off especially in traffic signals. The Clutch is light and the Gearbox is smooth. Headroom is generous in front and cabin width is sufficient enough to prevent front seat occupants from elbowing each other. All round driver visibility is adequate, including rear vision when parking the Car even though the driver seating position is a bit on the lower side. The rear parking sensors provide audio feedback and work perfectly. Rear Seat is strictly for two adults. You can squeeze in 3 adults if they are lean. Rear legroom is adequate and the Rear Ac went preset in the car is really a good feature to have as it helps the back seat passengers to relax in the long highway drives during noon time. It doesn't mean that the AC is not powerful enough, but this feature compliments the AC performance. When the backseat is empty, you can shut the blower vents off which I think is a very thoughtful feature, but the same cannot be done in the case of front ac vents. For a car that is feature loaded you will definitely fell the absence of functions like speed sensing door locks, Distance to Empty Indicator and automatic climate control. Also I feel that the horn of the car is a little on the lower side. On an average, I am getting a mileage of around 12-15 Km/l which includes 90% city drives and the AC always turned on. Overall the car is a perfect small family car and you will never regret choosing this over the others.Read More10
- Luxury With Affordable TagHyundai is always known for the premium feel they provide in their interiors across the segment, the same you can experience in Grand i10 as well. It is well spacious, gives a premium feel in interior plastic, good & quick response from the engine, enough room on the back, chill air conditioner and decent boot space. It comes with the signature Fluidic design philosophy by Hyundai. The attractive car catches your attention with its facade. The chic headlamps are well-styled with the chrome finished radiator grille. The hexagonal pattern with the black mesh is good. The air dam size is of decent size, while the silver finished logo adds a little bling to the car?s front profile. The well-pronounced wheel arches fitted with 14-inches alloy wheels. The class appearance is further enhanced with the help of chrome plated door handles in the top range. The base variant of the car comes with black door handles and ORVMs. The rear profile of i10 Grand has a sporty rear spoiler and the tail gate has Hyundai badging. The clear lens taillight cluster goes in sync with inventive rear bumper. The sportiness factor is a bit higher and better in Hyundai i10 Grand.Read More2
- Owner's Review 1100 KMOwner's review 1100Km: I bought the Grand i10 petrol top model this Diwali Oct-2016 and have driven ~1000 KM so far, mostly city driving in Jaipur. It runs on city roads. Flawlessly, light steering, smooth gear shift and the best thing is the rear AC vents but there are a few things that I miss in Grand i10 from driver's point of view. (1) Average fuel economy on MID, (2) Instant Fuel Economy on MID, (3) Distance to Empty on MID, (4) Dead Pedal for resting left leg (even Santro had this but not available in Grand i10 or i20,surprising for me), (5) Reverse camera (sensors are available in Asta Option), (6) Touch screen AVN (AV unit available in Anniversary edition but not in top variant Asta option), (7) EBD (Electronic brakeforce distribution)... All must have features. At least, Hyundai should have AVN or AV and rear parking camera along with some other accessories at the dealership so that interested customers can get it done at dealership itself. I also miss some additional storage spaces like KUV100 has (under the seat and under floor storage very helpful and hidden storages). I also like the integrated music system, Bluetooth connectivity feature and steering mounted control. It works flawlessly and the Bluetooth feature is a boon when you get a call while driving. Also, The features like keyless entry along with start-stop button add premiums to the car. In addition to this Hyundai has to do some work in the suspension area, it does its job most of the times well but still, an improvement is required! Front view for the driver isn't very good. You have to take a call while parking whether there is enough gap or not as the driver seat doesn't move up to that level so that front space can be seen properly. The new Grand i10 is offered with two engine options - one petrol and one diesel (1.1L U2). The petrol engine is the same Kappa 1.2 dual VTVT engine which is already doing a good job in some of the other cars in the Hyundai lineup. The 1,197cc engine develops a peak power of 83 bhp at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 114Nm at 4,000 rpm in the Grand i10. The engine is smooth and silent and does a great job most of the time. Rest is really good e.g. interior quality, fit and finish, style, power, sporty alloy wheels, rear washer and wiper, 1 litre bottle space in all door pockets, foldable rear seat, front fog lamps, two 12v power sockets, enough space in front to keep knick-knacks, cooled glove box, low maintenance, Hyundai's superior service network. Fuel efficiency in city ~14-15Kmpl also good enough. I am expecting it to improve after first the service. Music System: Loads of options to play music, USB-Drive, Aux, Bluetooth, Integrated 1 GB storage (863 MB usable) but no CD/DVD player. Sound quality is fair enough. Steering mounted controls for music system controls to change track, increase/decrease volume and mute. Overall it is a very nice family hatchback with tonnes of features at this price point a big thumbs up for all future buyers who are looking for a feature loaded small hatchback.Read More3 1
- Good Car With ProblemsI am not a rash driver. I take care of my vehicle well and ensure on time service. Highway mileage is good but city mileage goes for a toss. Sometimes I feel it has less powered motor especially uphill drive with A/C switched on. Suddenly on a fine day my car's A/C stopped working, this happened after 2 yr 4 months and 28000 KM of usage. I have an extended warranty from Hyundai for the third year but now they are not giving it for the A/C. I fail to understand why as it is an internal part. I like the interiors and build quality. Tyre quality which Hyundai provides is not up to the mark, tyres wear out a bit early. The car has a low ground clearance and does not go well with bumpy roads. Also, the suspension is bit hard. Certainly, with my experience with Grand i10 and Suzuki Swift, I am not a big fan of Grand i10. I would not recommend it to anybody. If you want peace of mind, go for Swift any day.Read More3
- Premium hatchback car with stunning look in 6-7lakh on roadBased on my two months of driving Hyundai grand i10 Asta (O) version, I found it gives a feel of premium hatchback car with stunning look available today in the market in 6-7 lakhs onroad price segment. Its a comfortable 5 seater front wheel drive with enough boot space. Its perfect for a small family living in crowded city. The city mileage is around 11-12kmph with ac. Highway driving gave the mileage of 15-16 kmph. Handling in city and turning radius is superb due to its relatively smaller size. Exterior wise : Pure white colour with chrome finishing in door handles gives grand look.To have more safety and stylish appearance, the car is equipped with fog lights, headlights and taillights, along with wide tyres.Interior :Interior is built well. Features well in class quality and materials. Dashboard looks graceful and everything feels within reach. Rear ac vent is plus point. AC cooling is superb. Automatic climate control feature is missing. Leg space for rear seat spacing are quite comfortable as per hatchback segment is concerned. Five people can sit in hassle-free manner. Didn't get the reverse parking camera in my car. Position of gear is nearer to dashboard unlike other cars so it takes some time to adjust. Clutches are smooth which makes handling easier. Engine is quite silent. Has multiple storage option with nice safety feature as smart key with push button start/stop.Nice bluetooth enabled music system with decent bass and steering mounted controls. It comes with power steering.Safety wise it has dual airbags with ABS. EBD is missing. Fabric seats are comfortable.Luggage lamp is a useful feature. Reverse parking assisting sensors are handy in strict parking areas.Electric adjustable and foldable mirrors gives a premium feel. The car incorporates suitable Anti-Lock braking device to prevent skidding of vehicle. Other than this, child safety locks installed in Asta model assures proper safety of children while driving the car.Engine performance : Its a four cylinder engine with 81BHP power at 6000 rpm and 114Nm torque. This engine gives a decent sporty power and torque combo with nice pickup.Driving uphill was comfortable. Highway driving is fun with this. The car has not disappointed me yet. Even the gears switch smoothly and the handling is easy even for beginners. Suspension is good. Didn't give much jerking on off road driving. To conclude, it can be said like best thing about this model is its affordability in price. One can afford the feel of premium car and enjoy long drive in luxury car with your family by spending less. Its a nice option available in the market for middle class office going family guys. After sales service of hyundai is also nice. So far can't comment on the maintenance cost of the car but people say its affordable but a bit more than Maruti avg. yearly maintenance and service charges. My final ratings are OverallLooks - 4.2/5Performance - 4.1/5Space/Comfort - 4.2/5Fuel Economy - 3.8/5Value For Money - 4.4/5I highly recommend this affordable car for family looking for city driving with occasional highway driving.Read More12 3
- Its A Excellent CarAwesome car pretty much satisfied with my first car, after all, it's my hard earned money I spent on a good product from Hyundai. Exterior Awesome looks best in Class. Looks even smaller with integrated tail lights. Looks smaller as it has 14" tyres with alloy wheels it even looks smaller and unfit. Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good interior fibre quality. Rear vent the first n the segment. The problem with low seating especially for taller guys like me. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Excellent fuel economy, I have done 15k Km and I am getting 22Kmpl mileage in city conditions and 26Kmpl on the highways (make sure you drive as the gear shift suggests on display). Looses breath after 2.5K Rpm Average engine performance but 2nd best in class. 1st obviously goes to the Swift, unlike mileage. Smooth clutch. ABS work perfectly. Airbags give confidence. (I personally believe its like a 1 lakh life insurance) Gearbox is the best in class very smooth and operates best in class with long intervals. Ride Quality & Handling Excellent, brilliant constructionRead More
