Hyundai Creta: Best in Segment

Hi, My review is based on comparison with the other cars in the segment. Performance: 4.5/5 Mileage: 4/5 Ride Comfort: 5/5 Safety: 4.5/5 Exteriors: 5/5 Interiors: 4.5/5 Smooth and refined, cabin insulated, feel cocooned, punchy diesel engine, there is only a little lag at high rev (5000-6000 rpm). Overtaking though is very easy, the car responds to the push on the pedal almost immediately. The steering is best among all other Hyundai smaller cars (even Verna). Don't imagine the amount of space in the rear seat from outside. Space is impressive. Exteriors: Pros: At First Glance, Creta looks more than it really offers. There is the exactly right amount of Muscle & Athletisme and nothing seems to be overdone. Not choosing sub 4 meters to reduce price was a bold decision by Hyundai, and they benefited from it. The dimensions of the car are best in the segment and the car looks like a proper SUV. The front has a resemblance to Santafe. The rear sloping rooflines and shoulder gives it a look like that of Evoque. Both the Headlight and the tail light give the extra dimensions to the car. The top end (SX) also offers projector headlamps and DRL. The skid plates in the front and the rear increases the aesthetics of the car. The Ground clearance is ample thanks to the 16?? Alloy wheels. The top end (SXO) offers 17?? Tires. Interiors: There is hardly anything inside the cabin which you will say Hyundai could have done better. The two-tone (Beige & Black) interiors is absolutely stunning, while the top-end variant (SX, SXO+) offer premium leather seats. The infotainment system has a standard large (7') easy to use and responsive touch screen with 6 speakers. The steering mounted controls are similar to that of i20 and work very nicely. There is ample space in the rear seat and despite the rear AC vent, the three adult passengers can sit comfortably. The Leg space is good enough for the long drives and boot is fairly large enough to put any amount of luggage. Performance: My variant has the 1.4 L (1398 cc) Diesel engine which is also used in i20. The top variant (SX, SXO) comes with 1.6 L engine which is used in Verna. Despite being a smaller engine, the drive doesn't feel anything like i20 while driving. Hyundai claims the mileage is 21 KMPL under ideal conditions. My car manages to get 18-19 KMPL on highways (if driven under 100 KMPH). Even in the city traffic, the car manages to fetch 15-17 KMPL thanks to the 6-speed manual transmission which helps to improve the efficiency. The car responds to the push on the pedal almost instantly and there is no lag on either low RPM or even High RPM. Ride Comfort: I have been driving this car for almost 3 years now and already driven more than 75,000 kms till now (most of the driving is on the highway). The car is very comfortable for both front, and back passengers. Even on the long drives of 7-8 hours, you don't feel the discomfort. The car insulates almost every noise of the outside. The car does fairly decent on the bumpy roads. The driver seat is electrically adjustable according to your ride comfort. Most of my travel has been in the rear seat, there is ample space in there. The rear AC vents are as strong as the front. There are plenty of cups/bottle holders in the front and back seat. Overall ride quality is comfortable. Cons: 1) In the rear seat, the thigh support & seating height could be better. 2) The car doesn't come with 4x4 3) The only automatic variant is available in 1.6 L, no automatic variant in 1.4 L Final Verdict: If you are a cost-conscious, average rider then buy 1.4 L, If you are a car enthusiast and performance-oriented the buy the 1.6 L variant. But you shouldn'tt even think of any other car in this segment than Hyundai Creta. After 3 years, I will say the same: Creta is the best.
