Datsun GO Plus Buy if you are ready to compromise

The title is enough to give you a hint of my review. I was planning to buy this car but stepped back due to reasons mentioned in this review. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good car, all depends from what perspective you look at it. Where every other car buyer is looking toward hatchbacks, compact sedans and compact SUVs, Datsun took a unique decision to offer something special to the Indian folks. People are budget conscious here, there is no doubt about that and the GO MPV was launched to cater this segment of carbuyers only. These are the people who just want maximum for their money and ready to compromise on the quality. And this what Datsun GO Plus is all about. First, we will talk about some positives. It is the most affordable MPV in the country with price starting at just Rs. 3.82 lakhs and going up to Rs. 4.99 lakhs. At such an incredible price, it is really hard to complain anything about the car. The second most beneficial part of this MPV is its seating capacity which is 5+2 on paper, however, it is not a true seven seater, the third row is best suitable for children only but it still offers third row which other cars in this price range have only two. The third row can also tumble down to make more space for luggage which is again good for storing huge bags for your weekend trips. Another surprisingly good thing about this car is the way it tackles the Indian roads. The car offers compliant ride quality and adequate drivability, comes with light driving controls and small turning radius, all which makes it a good city mover. Now, coming to the negatives in the car, first, the cost cutting is evident in each department, especially the interiors. The car contains small feature list and even the top of the range model lacks essential features such as a proper head-unit, retractable seat belts, glovebox lid and ORVM adjustment stalks to name a few. The engine on the other hand, is noisy as wind easily permeates into the cabin accompanied by excessive tyre noise on damaged roads. In the safety department too, you will not find even a standard driver airbag, it’s optional and available in the top spec model only. The structure is also light and flimsy that raises safety concerns. So this is all I have to say about this car, it’s upto you to make the wise decision.
