Skoda India is very well known as a car manufacturing company which never for once compromised on comfort, technology and brilliant looks, and this time also it is crystal clear that they have been up to something big regarding the launch of Skoda Yeti.The new Skoda Yeti Ambition 4X4 is currently one of the best SUV variants in the current Indian market with four wheel drive; it is certainly faster, swifter and meaner than the other variants in its class. It has a muscular look and a lot of power in it just waiting to be explored; thisbeauty can easily blend anywhere from city traffic to off road obstacles. The Skoda Yeti is a five-door , five seater compact SUV model. But the major spotlight remains to be on the four wheel drive system, while many features are similar with the Skoda Yeti Ambition 4X2 .To add to its beautythis SUV is packed with chrome package for both exterior and interior of the car. The fuel mileage, compactness, safety and comfort features separate this SUV from other in the market. With this model Skoda has clearly shown its strength to do dominate the Indian SUV market.
Exteriors
Skoda Yeti Ambition 4X4 comes in 6 color variants namely Corrida Red, Brilliant Silver, Mato Brown, Aqua Mist, and Magic Black. The 16 inch alloy wheels are just too good to be left unnoticed, brush guards are there on front and rear bumper, and there are also turn indicators on external mirrors. Rain sensing wipers, power antenna, tinted glass, side stepper too are present. This SUV also comes packed with front and rear fog lights. The dimensions being 4223mm X 1793 mm X 1691 mm of length, width and height respectively are perfect for a compact SUV. The ground clearance is of about 180 mm. The total kerb weight of this vehicle comes out to be 1543 kg.
Interiors
Starting with the leather seats, these are perfectly packed with lumbar support adjustment for both driver and front passenger seats. Skoda Yeti Ambition review is also equipped with front centre armrest, fully adjustable. Skoda swing audio player and eight speakers are the icing on the cake. Digital odometer and clock , electronic multi trip-meter, tachometer along with adjustable steering are just some of the many more features. Reading lamps are there both at the front and the rear for better lighting. Vario-flex, a variable rear seat system is accommodated in this SUV for extra needed space . The rear view mirror automatically dims as per the light needs.
Engine and Performance
Skoda Yeti Ambition 4X4 has a 2.0 L TDI CR turbochargeddiesel engine with 4 cylinders which can produce maximum of 140 PS of peak power at 4200rpm along with 320 Nm of crest torque at the rate of 1750–2500rpm. It has 6 speed manual gearbox with engine displacement of 1968 cc . The mileage is a staggering 17.72 kmpl as per Skoda on highway and 14.33 in city; however the 4x2 Skoda Yeti offers better mileage than 4x4. The fuel tank is quite bigger with capacity of 60 litres. This highly advanced beast can cross 100kmph mark at 10.8 seconds and has a top speed of 190 kmph . The motor of Skoda yeti is power packed and delivers a faster response.
Braking and Handling
On Indian roads braking and handling are like the first amendment so keeping this in mind, Skoda has launched each of their car with sound braking system, it includes front disc brakes with inner cooling with single piston floating caliper and rear disc breaks that are big yes for Indian road conditions. Further advanced features includes, ABS (Anti-lock Brake) system with electronic brake force distribution that prevents wheel locking in sudden braking , so the vehicle never skids out. Of course Skoda Yeti Ambition 4X4 is equipped with power steering but it doesn’t have any music controls on steering wheel which is kind of odd. The steering column is direct track and pinion steering with a turning radius of 5m.
Safety features
The off road mode is one of the best feature in this SUV; it acts intelligently while driving on a slope an easy job. The clutch works automatically with ABS, ASR, EDS and ESP, which provides it with a quicker response time. The Hill Descent Control system is a great system that enables driving at a constant speed when driving downhill and the drive-off assistant is a great help to start your vehicle on slippery surfaces.Other safety features includes 4 airbags, brake assist, child safety locks, anti alarm theft, halogen headlamps, rear seat belts with seat belt warning, both side as well as front impact beams, vehicle stability control system, crash sensor as to name a few. Most of the vehicles add fuel tank behind the vehicle while yeti ambition 4x4 has centrally mounted fuel tank, which makes it rather distinguishing.
Comfort features
The Skoda Yeti has got awesome combination of style and comfort. With leather seat upholstery and leather wrapped steering wheel, along with spacious leg rest it is the best in the business. Armrest with cup holders for rear seat passengers, height adjustable front seat belts, odour filter and pollen filter are an introduction to a new level of comfort. This SUV doesn’t come with an automatic climate control or any sort of navigation system to our convenience. Another standout feature is the adjustable rear air conditioning vents on rear center console and under the front seats too. The cruise controls as well as parking sensors are not equipped in this model, which can be disappointing for some.Skoda Yeti Ambition 4X4 is also packed with engine immobilizer and vehicle stability control system for providing further comfort. All in all the comfort level offered by Skoda Yeti is close to being perfect for a five member family.
