The Ford Figo undoubtedly changed the fate of Ford India and the credit somewhat goes to Ford Figo Diesel variant which has witnessed a lot of demand. The Ford Figo Diesel LXI is the base model of the diesel range of the much-favored Figo hatchback. The length of the Ford Figo diesel LXI is measured to be 3795mm which not only is more than any other car of the B-segment but also is relative to the length of the Ford Fiesta sedan. The width of the car at 1680 mm is similar to its rivals like Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Swift and Ritz. The car is smallest and flaunts a height of 1427 mm but it maintains the highest ground clearance of 2489 mm. The extensive color range sported by the Ford Figo diesel includes colors like Panther Black, Chill, Colorado Red, Squeeze, Moon Dust Silver, Sea Grey and Diamond White.

The interiors of the Ford Figo LXI are beautifully done in Red and Black which is an entirely new concept. The red dashboard looks pretty modish and one of a kind, the silver centre console with black control renders a very chic appeal to the overall interiors of the car; this color combination is offered as an option. The features included in the car are similar to the ones that are being offered in almost every other car of the B-segment. The seats of the Ford Figo diesel are decently suited for the long travel range and the space at the front is way too decent and both the things in combination make the car even more comfortable than the arch rivals like Maruti Ritz and Hyundai i10.

The exteriors of the car are simple and elegant with angular headlights with subtle smoke effect. A big black air duct that bears the number plate and is flanked by focused fog lamps. The side profile of the car is graced by wheel arches that are not too big and provide fair amount of muscle to the car. The tapering roof toward the rear end renders a unique sporty look to the car which is complemented by the rectangular vertical taillights.

Engine & Performance

Powering the car is the 1.4-litre Duratorq diesel engine that is known for offering excellent mileage and engine performance. Supporting the SOHC valve mechanism, the engine uses 8 valves i.e. 2 valves per cylinder. The engine has a common rail fuel system and a displacement of 1399cc . The transmission type is manual and supports 5 speed gearbox.

Power 

Also doing duty in the sedans Ikon and Fiesta from Ford Motors, the 1.4 L Duratorq engine generates a peak torque of 160Nm at 2000 RPM and a peak power of 69bhp at 4000 RPM . This engine is highly acclaimed for its frugality and high fuel efficiency that makes sure that the overall driving experience is pretty engaging.

Mileage

The 1399 cc 1.4-litre Duratorq engine is capable of offering a city mileage of around 13.8 kmpl and a highway mileage of around 18.5 kmpl . The overall mileage achieved in kilometers per liter is 14.7. The capacity rendered to the fuel tank is 45 liters which ensures a stress free uninterrupted long drive when the tank is full.

Acceleration & Pick-up

The acceleration time of 100 kmph from nil is measured to be a bit less than 16 seconds and the top speed flaunted is 175 kmph .

Safety Features

The safety features include the 3 point seatbelts for front and rear seats, dual tone horn, laminated glazed windscreen and lap strap for rear centre passenger. Since this is the base variant of the diesel range of Ford Figo, advanced safety features could not make their way in.

Braking & Handling

Affixed with ventilated disc front brakes and drum rear brakes the car ensures good braking. The handling aspect is improved with the hydraulic power assisted steering type and 175/65 R14 radial/tubeless tyres . The minimum turning radius boasted by the car is 4.9 meters. The suspension mechanisms are independent McPherson strut with dual path mounts and semi-independent twist beam with coil springs in the front and the rear respectively.

The Ford Figo LXI is feature rich even as a base diesel variant with air conditioner plus heater and remote fuel filler opening for comfort and convenience. The interiors flaunt of day / night inside rear view mirror, 12V front power point, cup holders in front centre console and foldable grab handles with coat hooks in the rear. The instrumentation supported by the car includes the a digital odometer as well as a tripmeter, distance to empty indication, door ajar as well as low fuel warning, indicator for water level in the fuel and headlamp on chime reminder.
