Avventura MULTIJET Dynamic Review

As promised, Fiat India has officially rolled out its first contemporary urban vehicle, Avventura for the country's automobile market. It is available in three trim levels among which, Fiat Avventura Multijet Dynamic is the mid range diesel variant. It is equipped with a turbocharged 1.3-litre multijet power plant that is capable of producing 91.7bhp along with a peak torque output of 209Nm. This latest model has a breathtaking external appearance, thanks to its stylish body kit that includes side skirts, a set of stylish alloy wheels, moldings, protective claddings and roof rails. It also has styling aspects like reindeer headlights along with LED tail lamps, which amplifies its external appearance. This sub 4-meter crossover has an SUV like ground clearance with 205mm, which improves its ability to deal with uneven roads. For the first time in the segment, this trim is equipped with high terrain gauges like a compass and inclinometer meter, which provides excellent assistance while off-roading. Although it is the mid range trim, this variant has features like a proficient music system, height adjustable driver's seat and electrically adjustable outside mirrors. The car maker has also incorporated aspects like ABS with EBD and exact door open indicator, which enhances its safety standards.

Exteriors:

This newly launched compact crossover looks quite intimidating as it is fitted with several sporty exterior features. Its front facade is fitted with a large radiator grille that has a black mesh and a thick chrome surround. Surrounding this is the distinctly designed headlight cluster that houses powerful halogen headlamps and turn indicators. The company's logo is embedded above the radiator grille that is complimented by the expressive lines on bonnet. Its windscreen is quite large and is accompanied by a pair of wipers and washers. The front bumper has a small air intake section and is fitted with a metallic nudge guard that gives it a dynamic stance. Its side profile has dual tone wheel arches, which are fitted with set of stylish 16-inch alloy wheels. It also has black skirts along with side moldings and body colored ORVM caps, which further adds to its elegance. The rear profile has clear lens taillight cluster that is powered by attractive LED lighting pattern featuring brake lights and turn indicators. Furthermore, its small windscreen is accompanied by a spoiler that is mounted with third brake light. Like the front, its rear bumper too is in black and is fitted with a metallic guard along with a pair of reflectors.

Interiors:

This Fiat Avventura Multijet Dynamic trim has an attractive internal cabin that is done up with a dual tone color scheme. Furthermore, there are a lot of metallic inserts given on AC vents, steering wheel and an dashboard. Its instrument panel has a lot of sporty appeal, as it has four round shaped meters with red dials. It provides information related to vehicle's speed, fuel levels along with several other warning functions. Its dashboard is made up with high quality plastic material, which gives a plush look to the cabin. Its center fascia has a high-gloss black soft touch panel, which further adds to its elegance. All the seats have excellent thigh and back support, which contributes towards a fatigue-free driving experience. Its driver's seat also has height adjustable, while the rear bench seat has folding facility. On the other hand, there is a 280 litre boot storage space available inside, which can be increased further. In a bid to enhance its convenience, the car maker has also equipped features like dual front sun visors, accessory power sockets, storage pockets and cup holders.

Engine and Performance:

This trim has a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine that is based on double overhead camshaft valve configuration. It has 4-cylinders and a total of 16-valves that displaces 1248cc. This motor is incorporated with a common rail diesel injection technology and has a turbocharger as well. This will enable the motor to produce a maximum power of 91.7bhp at 4000rpm that yields in a peak torque output of 209Nm at just 2000rpm. This power plant is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox, which allows the front wheels to extract its torque output. This diesel variant has the ability to produce a maximum mileage of 20.5 Kmpl, which can be made better.

Braking and Handling:

This mid range trim is blessed with a robust suspension mechanism that contributes towards driving comfort. Its front axle is paired with an independent wheel, McPherson strut and the rear axle is paired with a torsion beam suspension. In addition to these, it is also loaded with double acting telescopic dampers along with helical springs and stabilizer bars, which can deal with shocks caused on uneven roads. As far as its braking is concerned, its front wheels are equipped with ventilated discs and the rear ones have high performance drum brakes. On the other hand, the car maker has integrated a hydraulic power assisted steering system that is highly responsive and makes handling quite convenient.

Comfort Features:

This Fiat Avventura Multijet Dynamic is the mid range variant that is being offered with several advanced features. It has a list of features like hydraulic power steering with tilt adjustment, power windows with delay and auto down function, driver seat height adjustment and electrically adjustable outside mirrors. It also has an air conditioning system with rear foot level air circulation, which keeps the entire ambiance pleasant. Furthermore, this trim has follow-me-home headlamps and dead pedal for clutch foot rest. Its dashboard is integrated with an instrument cluster that features a digital clock, odometer, trip-meter, distance to empty indicator, instrument panel light regulation, tachometer and programmed service reminder. Beside all these, this mid range trim is equipped with an integrated music player including FM radio along with AUX-In socket and USB port.

Safety Features:

This mid range trim is bestowed with some of the innovative safety aspects like fire prevention system and an engine immobilizer with floating code system. It also has a list of other features including automatic door lock, central door locking, door open indicator, anti lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution and height adjustable front seat belts.

Pros:

1. Sporty off-road body kit gives it a dynamic look.

2. Plush interior design with roomy cabin space.

Cons:

1. Below par fuel economy is its main drawback.

2. Lack of rear parking sensors is a disadvantage.
