Mahindra and Mahindra is currently leading the utility vehicle segment with wide range of models including their macho, Xylo MUV. It has now received quite a few updates in terms of interiors, exteriors and technical specifications. Currently, the automaker is offering it in quite a few trim levels among which, Mahindra Xylo H4 ABS is the mid range variant. It is equipped with a refined 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, which is now mated with a new 5MT320 five speed manual transmission gearbox. This variant has a spacious internal cabin, which is now treated with a premium black and beige color scheme. The car maker is offering this trim with several important features like a proficient HVAC unit, tilt adjustable power steering system and remote fuel lid opener. It is also bestowed with a few utility aspects like dual front sun visors, courtesy lamps and mobile charging point, which adds to the convenience. At present, it is available in six exterior paint options including Mist Silver, Fiery Black, Java Brown, Toreador Red, Diamond White and Dolphin Grey. It is placed in the entry level MUV segment where it will face the likes of Nissan Evalia, Ashok Leyland Stile, Tata Sumo Grande and Chevrolet Enjoy.

Exteriors:

This newly introduced MUV has an attractive external appearance, thanks to its trendy body structure and stylish cosmetics. Its front profile is fitted with a large radiator grille that has vertical slats. It is flanked by hawk-wing shaped headlight cluster, which is equipped with turn indicators and halogen headlamps. The front bumper is in body color and is designed with a pair of fog lamps and air dam, which provides better air intake. The overall look of its front profile is complimented by the chrome plated company's insignia, which is positioned above the grille. Its side profile has a trendy appearance owing to its masculine wheel arches and trendy attractive window frames. The car maker is offering this trim with a set of 15-inch steel wheels featuring full wheel covers. These rims are further covered with a set of tubeless radial tyres of size 215/75 R15. Its B pillars, door handles and external wing mirrors are painted in black. The rear profile has a boxy structure featuring a large tailgate and windscreen. The taillight cluster has an attractive design and is integrated with powerful brake light and turn indicators. Its rear bumper has an integrated foot stepper, which makes it convenient to ingress and egress. This MUV has an overall length of 4520mm along with an impressive height of 1905mm and a decent width of 1850mm. Its minimum ground clearance is 186mm and the wheelbase is quite long with 2760mm.

Interiors:

This Mahindra Xylo H4 ABS trim gets a premium black and beige interior color scheme, which gives it an attractive look. Its dual tone dashboard houses a large glove box, an AC unit, instrument cluster and several other utility based features . The seats are ergonomically designed, which also have headrests and are covered with good quality fabric upholstery. Its instrument cluster has several functions including speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and tripmeter. Its cockpit and the second row are fitted with captain seats, which have sliding and reclining function. While the third row is fitted with bench seat, which is removable and foldable. There is an ample leg, shoulder and head space available inside the cabin owing to its long wheelbase, width and height. The car maker has also integrated several utility based features inside like sunglass holder in roof console, dual front sun visors and a storage compartment.

Engine and Performance:

The car maker has blessed this MUV with a slightly tweaked 2.2-litre, mHawk diesel engine, which has a displacement capacity of 2179cc . It has 4-cylinders and 16-valves based on DOHC valve configuration, which receives fuel through common rail injection system. Furthermore, it is also integrated with a turbocharger, which allows it to generate a maximum power output of 120bhp at 4000rpm in combination with a peak torque of 280Nm between 2400 to 2800rpm. This power plant is now mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which allows the front wheels to derive torque output from the engine. The car maker claims that this MUV can returns a minimum mileage of 11.6 Kmpl on city roads, while producing a maximum of 14.95 Kmpl on the highways. It has the ability to attain a top speed of 156 Kmph while breaking the 100 Kmph mark from a standstill in approximately 16 seconds.

Braking and Handling:

This MUV is bestowed with a new comfort suspension system designed with comfort drive technology. Its front axle is fitted with an independent double wishbone, while the rear axle is paired with multi-link suspension featuring coil springs. Its front wheels are fitted with high performance disc brakes and the rear ones are paired with conventional drum brakes. It is further integrated with an advanced anti lock braking system and electronic brake-force distribution, which reinforces this braking mechanism. The automaker has also incorporated a highly responsive power assisted steering system, which makes it quite simpler to handle this MUV.

Comfort Features:

This Mahindra Xylo H4 ABS is equipped with important comfort features. Its cabin has a heating, ventilation and AC unit along with rear air vents, which keeps the ambiance pleasant. It also has list of features including tilt adjustable power steering, second row captain seats, digital clock, roof console for spectacle holder, courtesy lamps , dual front sun visors, mobile charging points and power windows. Furthermore, it has illuminated ignition key ring, central locking system, floor console and remote fuel lid opening.

This MUV has a rigid body structure including crumple zones and protection beams, which safeguards all the occupants inside in case of an accident.
