The Chevrolet Cruze was launched in 2009 to rival the likes of the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis It was introduced at a time when SUVs weren’t as popular as they are today and gained its popularity for being a powerful and feature-loaded executive sedan.
Today, the competition includes models like the Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia, which have taken the game ahead. However, the Cruze still enjoys a strong fan-following thanks to its positioning as a driver-centric performance sedan, while the others lean towards chauffeur-driven owners. Verdict
The Chevrolet Cruze is certainly showing its age as its rivals are at least a generation ahead. This is particularly reflected in the interior, where the quality and space feel out of place in this segment.
However, it still gets modern features and thanks to its efficient, yet fun to drive engine, it’s still a great option to consider if you’re a driving-enthusiast. The car has also proven to be quite reliable and enjoys a good reputation in the pre-owned car market too.

Chevrolet Cruze Car Latest Update
May 18, 2017: Note: Chevrolet India will discontinue sales of all of its products in India effective December 31, 2017. Its Indian facilities will be utilised for export markets only.
Chevrolet has revealed the power and fuel-efficiency figures of the new 1.6-litre Ecotec diesel motor of the upcoming second-generation Cruze. The engine puts out 138PS of max power and 325Nm of peak torque. It returns a certified fuel-efficiency of 22kmpl (highway). This diesel engine comes paired with an option of a new nine-speed automatic (Hydra-Matic 9T50 nine-speed) or a standard six-speed manual.
Speaking of the present model, the facelifted Chevrolet Cruze was launched ahead of the 2016 Indian Auto Expo in January at Rs 14.68 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Soon, after a few weeks, the Cruze's prices were slashed and it now starts at Rs 13.95 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Speaking of the major additions in the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, the updated sedan offers new grille, daytime running LEDs, projector fog lamps and seven-inch MyLink infotainment system, among others. Mechanically, the 2016 Cruze remains unchanged with the 2.0-litre VCDi diesel engine that produces 166PS of power along with 380Nm of torque and comes with an option of a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
