After all the speculations and spied images, Volkswagen has finally launched the facelift version of Vento at INR 7.44 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The biggest change in the updated version is inclusion of 1.5-litre TDi diesel engine which replaces the bigger 1.6-litre engine. The fuel efficient diesel engine is offered with both 5- speed manual transmission and a 7-speed dual-shift DSG automatic gearbox (first in segment).

The updated Vento looks similar to the facelifted Polo introduced couple of months ago. The automaker introduces 5 variants in petrol and 5 variants with diesel powertrain.

The front looks similar to the facelifted Polo as the saloon embraces new dual-bezel headlamps, redesigned grille and tweaked bumper. While inside the cabin, the updated version gets new flat bottom multi-function steering wheel, updated center console and chrome garnish around the audio system. Pitched against the likes of Honda City and Hyundai Verna, the company has paid special focus at the rear seat comfort. The rear seats are now offered with entertainment package which includes individual screens in the front headrests.

Under the hood, the petrol models are powered by naturally aspirated 1.6 MPI engine and 1.2-litre TSI. The 1.6-litre MPI develops an output of 103.5bhp and 153Nm of max torque while the 1.2-litre TSI also gives the same output but delivers a greater torque of 175Nm. The petrol model features both manual and automatic transmission as the 1.6-litre MPI is coupled to 5-speed manual gearbox while the potent 1.2 TSI is mated to 7-speed DSG AT.

Moreover, the diesel models offer only the 1.5-litre TDI powertrain which also develops the maximum output of 103.5bhp with peak torque of 250Nm. As aforementioned, the diesel engine is made available with both 5-speed manual along with 7-speed dual-shift DSG automatic gearbox. With the diesel model offering automatic gearbox, Vento has an edge over rival Honda City. Hyundai Verna, however comes with a 4 speed auto gearbox.
