Tesla Recalls Model S

The American automaker, Tesla, has recalled every model of “S” worldwide over a small issue with seatbelts. The recall will affect around 90,000 vehicles around the globe and is a result of complaint from a user when he, in the front passenger seat of Model S, turned to talk with passengers in the rear seat and suddenly the seat belt broke.

The company spokesman reported that the cost of the worldwide recall will be "immaterial". But he also added that there have been no accidents or injuries related to the problem and their investigation was unable to reveal any root cause. He reassured the Tesla users and asserted that the carmaker will look at every single car for possible glitch. Although company officials have said that the customers can themselves test the seat belt assemblies by pulling it firmly and applying a force of above 80 pounds, it is advisable to bring the car to a service center to get a more comprehensive check. It will take the company around 6 minutes to fix the issue.

Model S recently achieved a maximum 5-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) some time back and is one of the few cars which have received this rating for both Euro NCAP and the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
