Tata Motors Passenger Car Sales up by 37 percent; To Increase Further with Nano GenX Launch

Tata Motors sold 36,205 units last month compared to 33,962 units in April 2014. With the increased sales, the automaker witnessed a growth of 7 percent. In the passenger car segment, Tata Motors retailed 10,230 units, up by 37 percent from 7,411 units in the same month last year. The company also exported 3,786 units, an increment of 18 percent from last year’s 3,222 units.

In the commercial and passenger segment, the homegrown automaker witnessed a growth of 5 percent as it sold 32,419 units while in April 2014, Tata managed to clock 30,740 units. While in the pure commercial segment, for which the company is known for, domestic sales were 22,189 units, down by 5 percent.

The sales of the company is expected to raise further as recently Tata Motors has started taking booking of upcoming Tata Nano GenX at an upfront payment of Rs 5,000. The hatch will be launched in four variants viz XE, XM, XT and the AMT model XTA.

The automaker has updated its entry level hatch with cosmetic changes in the form of new ‘Smiling’ grille, smoked headlamps and glossy black applique with Tata logo. The rear for the first time gets an openable boot along with redesigned bumper. Inside the cabin, the hatch gets new and updated power steering wheel, audio system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX-IN support with four speakers. While under the hood, country’s most affordable hatch is pulled by the same rear-mounted 624cc, MPFI naturally aspirated petrol engine.
