Tata Nano diesel is likely to be introduced sooner than expected. 2012 Auto Expo could be the platform Tata India might choose to launch the diesel variant of the cheapest car across the globe. With a string of launches on cards, Tata Nano diesel will certainly be the most hotly anticipated car in the auto show that is to begin from 7th January. One thing is definitely very high on the cards, that is the outstanding mileage of 32 kmpl and upwards.

It is the 800 cc two-cylinder engine under the hood to deliver the 35 Bhp and 110 Nm of peak power and torque in the car. The ergonomics of the car are also upped from the existing petrol variant. The improved suspension set-up, power-steering and an anti-roll bar are the new additions to enhance the performance and handling aspect of the car. The top-speed is well maintained in the diesel variant which will continue to keep up with the 105 kmph pace. To be honest, it is not very common that we see a diesel variant offered by a car maker for a budget car. The expensive diesel technology makes it quite impossible for any auto manufacturer to maintain the low cost bracket which simply wipes off the ‘cheap’ tag out of the equation.

True to it, there are some rumours doing the rounds pointing out to something to that effect. The Tata Nano diesel price is expected to creep up to Rs 2 – Rs 3 lakhs. However, this does not drive away the image of the world’s cheapest car just as yet. But, the auto major has been generous to make up the substantial rise in Tata Nano diesel price. The plusher interiors with some exciting color tones will pacify the consumers for the relatively high price tag.
