Ford India has finally taken a step forward to meet up the demand for their company SUV, Ecosport, and is firm to start with a round-the-clock manufacturing programme at their Chennai based plant. The 24-hour shift will commence from mid 2014; certainly will cut down the long waiting period associated with this particular product.

With this, the company is aiming at producing 1,60,000 units in 2014, while further plans to extend this upto 2,00,000 cars per year. Ford India is getting associated with vendors to pump up their production capacity in order to meet the ever rising demand. Talking particularly about Ecosport, currently the company is producing an output of 350 units per day, and has a vision to increase this upto 450 units per day by June'14. This could even rise up to 750 to 850 units a day by this October, to cater the demand from international markets as well.

All actions of the company are intended to remove the bottlenecks especially with the long waiting period. Considering the massive response received just after the launch of Ecosport in India; registered bookings of over 60,000 units, but Ford could deliver just 35,000 units by January. This has in a way negatively affected the company with the customer's impatient behaviour towards such extended waiting period.
