There are not many nameplates which run straight for 50 years except some mean machines like Ford Mustang (no need of any introduction). Whether its you, your father, your grand father they all know about Mustang and all of them has a heart that beats for this 'pony car'. The car introduced the 'fast-back' design or famously known as 'pony car' design and the rest is history - we all know the design is followed almost by everyone, whether its Camaro's Charger or Challenger, you name it. Mustang was a revolution in itself in the 60's and 70's and it is indeed today also as scintillating and heat pumping like it was when it was launched. To celebrate its 50 years of Mustang – Ford introduces the all-new 2015 Mustang GT 'fastback' with the '50 years Limited Edition'.

The things to die for:

  • The Limited Edition is only available in Wimbledon White or Kona Blue in the all-new 2015 Mustang GT fastback.
  • Ford will only produce 1,964 units of the special edition (guys remember Mustang was launched in 1964!) and the Limited Edition will be available by the fall of 2014.
  • The 50 years Limited Edition Mustang GT fastback comes as standard with all the options you could possibly think of, all you need to do is pick six-speed manual or automatic and color out of the two.
  • The 50 years Limited Edition Mustang will provide one a kind owner's guide in a '50 years' badged leather portfolio.
  • The car features 65's chrome spoke inspired 'Y' spoke 19'' alloys riding on Pirelli P-Zero summer tires.

Ford is recreating the history with the Mustang, the first Mustang was showcased to the world for the first time in New York in 1964 and for the 2015 model after half a century, Ford is again taking its baby to NY.

“When Mustang was approved for development more than 50 years ago, I don’t think anyone imagined it would spawn such a dedicated base of fans around the world and still be in production today,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “We are thrilled to be here in New York – where Mustang was first shown to the public at the 1964 World’s Fair – to re-create that historic event for today’s Mustang enthusiasts.”

The 2015 Mustang make a striking resemblance to the original pony car, the overall details, like the fast back design, tri-bar vertical tail-lamps - “The new Mustang blends a muscular, contemporary shape with design cues that define it as quintessentially Mustang,” said Moray Callum, Ford vice president of design. “The 50 Year Limited Edition adds details that set it apart from other Mustangs, while hearkening back to the 1965 original.”

Ford also added 60's famous detailing to the Limited Edition Mustang GT - “Chrome trim was much more prevalent on cars in the 1960s than it is today, so we added some discreet highlights for the grille, side glass and tri-bar taillamps,” said Callum. “The darker Kona Blue provides a particularly striking contrast against the chrome.”

They have chosen the best performance oriented latest Mustang available today- the 2015 Mustang GT fastback.
“Mustang fans love to drive their cars, even the rarer examples of the breed, so we built this limited-edition from the best-performing 2015 Mustang available – the GT fastback with the performance pack,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer. “While some collectors will undoubtedly stash this car away in a museum, those who choose to hit the open road will get a world-class sports car that can run with the best.”

Well this doesn't happen much often -possibly the best part except the special Mustang, Chevy Camaro wishes Mustang Happy 50th birthday, the great American rivalry at its best. No doubt its an appreciating gesture from the Camaro. Unlike Apple vs Microsoft, the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro share it for five decades and that certainly has made both the nameplates run for so long with constant endeavors from both side!

“For five decades, the Camaro and the Mustang have been battling it out in every possible setting,” said Mark Reuss, executive vice president of GM Global Product Development. “These two cars have been striving to beat each other on the track, on the drag strip and on the streets. That competition is a big part of why both cars are so amazing, and so popular, today.”

The Limited Edition will be the first of the models to enter the production when the 2015 range enters for production for the launch stated later this year. “We wanted to provide our most dedicated fans with the emotion of the original Mustang in a 21st century car,” said Ford. “With this 50 Year Limited Edition, I believe we have accomplished our goal.”

This Edition is the best you could possibly get out from a Mustang, go grab your hand on it if you can! We wish the legend a happiest 50th birth and we wish it lives for centuries to come. Love Mustang :)
