ALPINA, the company famous for modifying BMWs, has just recently shown the magic wand to the M6 Gran Coupe, and calls it the 2016 BMW ALPINA B6 xDrive Gran Coupe. Apart from having a much simpler and shorter name, it is safe to say that the M6 is already bonkers, but the technicians at ALPINA have given it even more power and torque. The very futuristic 4.4 litre Bi-Turbo V8 engine now develops 600bhp of maximum power at 6,000rpm and a ridiculous peak torque figure of 800Nm at 3,500rpm!

This is actually an increase in output of 60bhp over the 2015 model which has been achieved through extensive rework of the air intake ducting and air filter housing, with enhancements to the fuel supply system. And then is the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system working in the new B6 xDrive Gran Coupe delivers amazing straight-line performance. The sprint to 96kmph from a standstill takes 3.6 seconds, making this the fastest-accelerating BMW ALPINA model ever developed. The BMW ALPINA B6 has an electronically limited top speed of 320kmph.

In terms of appearance, a dynamic front spoiler enclose the revised BMW kidney grill, and shape the transition to the new ALPINA hood which features character chins, lending even more powerful appearance. ALPINA sport suspension utilises BMW’s advanced electronic suspension technologies, like Dynamic Damper Control (adjustable, adaptive shock absorbers) and Adaptive Drive (Active Roll Stabilization), which work together with the fully-variable torque distribution of the all-wheel drive system to achieve very neutral, agile driving dynamics. The standard equipment level has been extended to include attractive features such as Full LED Adaptive Headlights with High Beam Assistant, and a discrete new B6 model designation in the B-pillar in high-gloss Shadow Line.

Inside the B6 you will find only the highest-quality materials. Nappa leather and a leather instrument panel remain standard in addition to essential features such as electric comfort seats. The BMW Navigation system with BMW ConnectedDrive

services is also standard.

Blue ALPINA instrumentation, an ALPINA steering wheel covered in hand-stitched LAVALINA leather, the ALPINA production plaque overhead, door sill trims with blue illuminated ALPINA lettering, and the classic ALPINA luxury wood trim in Myrtle or Piano lacquer – these are some of the exclusive features of the B6 xDrive Gran Coupe’s interior.
