Ford to launch new cars in India

Ford India, a fully owned subsidiary of US based Ford Motors is planning to launch new cars in India as told by a top official of the company. Michael Boneham, Ford India's Managing Director and President told PTI that company is going to bring more global products into the Indian auto-market. The company is looking to provide more options to its Indian buyers from its global product portfolio. Ford is planing to launch a new car in every 12-18 months including small and medium size cars in the country, Mr Boneham added.

Ford India recently launched its Ford Figo model in India as the company is planning to capitalize on the vast opportunity exists here for small cars. The base model of Figo named as Figo Duratec LXI has been priced at Rs 3.66 lakh. On the other hand the Ford Figo EXI model is available in both diesel and petrol engine options, where the petrol variant is coming in Rs 4 lakh, the diesel variant is available in Rs 4.95 lakh.

Ford Figo launched in India

Ford India officially launched the Figo today announcing pricing for the much anticipated new compact car. "Our dealers are excited, customers are waiting and the new Figo is now ready to hit the streets," said Joe Hinrichs, president of Ford Asia, Pacific and Africa. "From the start we wanted to offer all the features of a B-Segment car at a Sub-B price. We've accomplished that with Figo." Four different Figo models – LXI, EXI, ZXI and Titanium – will be available with different trim levels and designed to suit a variety of consumer tastes.  All models also will be available with a Duratorq diesel engine option. Aggressively priced, the new entry-level Figo Duratec LXI, equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, will be priced at Rs. 3,49,900.  The entry-level model also can be equipped with a 1.4-litre Duratorq diesel engine that will be priced at Rs. 4,47,900 .

Ford India sales jumped more then 22 percent in Feb

Ford India, a subsidiary of US based Ford Motors has registered a growth of 22.67 percent in the sales of February this year as compare to the same period of last year. The company managed to sell 3,223 units in the month of February this year as against 2,636 units in the same period last year.

Ford Officially announced price of Figo model in India

US based Ford Motors today officially announced the price of Ford Figo model to its Indian customers . Where the Petrol version of  Figo model will be available in the price rage of Rs 3.5 to 3.75 lakhs , the diesel version will be launched in  the price range of Rs 4.20-5.0 lakhs. Ford Figo to be launched by next month

Ford India, a subsidiary of US based automaker Ford Motors announced on Tuesday that it would launch Ford Figo by the month of March in the country. Ford India is also expanding its dealership facilities here to enhance market base for Ford Figo model so that a large market space can be provided to it in India. The compact segment covers more than 70 percent of the cars sold in India and it includes popular cars in India like Maruti Alto, Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Hyundai i20, Fiat Punto and Honda Jazz. Ford India has a 2 percent market share in the country and it sold 24,186 units of its cars in the first 10 months of this fiscal.

Ford Figo to replace Fusion in India

Ford India has decided to phase out its small hatch back Ford Fusion in the country as the company is all set to launch a new small car named as Ford Figo here by the first week of March, this year. Company will phase-out the Ford Fusion model and it will focus exclusively on its new small car Ford Figo in the Indian market, said, Michael Boneham, Ford India Managing Director and President. The Ford Fusion model was providing a relatively small volume and company hopes to do good with the new Ford Figo, added Mr Boneham. Ford Figo has become quite popular in India even before its launch here, though its competitor Chevrolet Beat which was launched last month, registering a good number of sales. Launch of Ford Figo model is scheduled for starting of next month and the production of the model has been started  at Ford's Chennai plant.

Ford to launch Focus by 2011

US based Ford Motors is planning to launch a new small car Mercury by the starting of year 2011. The model will be based on Ford's new global compact car platform, said Americas Mark Fields, Ford President on Sunday.

The all new Ford Mercury model is one of the 10 vehicles about which the company is planning for its global small car architecture, that also includes the upcoming 2012 Ford Focus model, and would enhance its range of the mid-level premium brand long devoid of new products.

Ford India launched 28 new dealerships in India

Ford India, a subsidiary of Detroit based Ford Motors today officially announced the opening of 28 new authorized Ford dealerships in 24 cities of the country. As company is in the final stage of launching its small car Ford Figo in India, it is trying to improve market availability and service facilities in its Indian establishment. The new facility will not only provide an enhanced base for Ford Figo model but also improve the market availability of its all range of vehicles in India. After the enhancement of dealership network the Ford India will have 164 dealerships in total located across 97 cities in India. The number of cities with a Ford outlet has increased by more than 30 percent in last two years. Among these 28 new outlets of Ford India, 14 will offer full 3S (Showroom, Sales and Service) facilities, while seven facilities will be service workshops providing a full line of mechanical services. The remaining seven new outlets are sales showrooms which has a full line-up of Ford vehicles.

Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo will be launched in India

The Indian auto Industry registered a record sales growth in the starting month of this year and the major contributor to this growth was small segment. Production of the Ford Figo model has been started at company's plant in Maraimalainagar, Chennai after inaugurated by the state Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. US based automobile manufacturer Ford Motors has announced that it will invest $400 million in its production facilities to manufacturer next version of, its Explorer SUV by the end of year 2010. Ford to increase market share by new car launches

Michael Boneham, president and MD of Ford India here on Thursday indicated that the US car maker, Ford has decided to launch a new car every 12 to 18 months in India to enhance its market share. However, he did not indicate what sort of market share the company aims to achieve in the long run. Talking to newsmen at the inauguration of Ford’s new dealership, Victoria Ford, Mr. Boneham said: "We now have a marketshare of nearly 2% and we want to grow it significantly in coming years. Launching of new cars from the Ford stable, will play a crucial role in growing our market share in India."

For 2009, Ford India aims to achieve sales of 30,000 cars compared to 29,000 cars sold in calendar 2008. "In September ‘09, we have been able to sell 3,500 cars which is a 50% increase year-on-year basis," said Nigel Wark, executive director (marketing, sales and services). By investing $500 million, company will expand production at its Chennai plant from 1 lakh to 2 lakh vehicles, apart from producing 2.5 lakh engines, both in petrol and diesel.

Ford Motor has plans to make India its manufacturing hub for its small car Ford FigoFord Figo will be launched in the first quarter of 2010 and come in both petrol and diesel variants. Ford showcases small cars this week

US company, Ford is now eying on India to offset tough business conditions in other global markets. The company that survived the downturn without a government help, Ford Motor is planning to integrate car designs globally and develop compact and mid-sized cars as part of a strategy to improve profitability and productivity.

Ford has focussed on economies of scale and implementing ‘One Ford’ strategy across markets. Alan Mulally, president and CEO of Ford Motor, is also making a lightning visit to India to showcase its small car in the middle of this week. He joined Ford in 2006 after divesting brands like Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin.This moment will be exciting and worth watching. Ford India has not had a new product launch, but continues to upgrade its existing product line since 2005.

Ford India will launch its small car, code named B517 in March 2010, which is expected to compete with the Hyundai i20 and the Maruti Swift, that were also showcased to its dealers in Chennai recently. The small car will be a four-door hatchback, powered by an indigenous diesel and petrol engine manufactured at its Chennai plant. Ford India has invested around $500 million (Rs 2,400 crore) to double the current capacity by one lakh cars and 2.5 lakh engines, company officials said.

New Ford Mondeo is all set to be launched in India in January 2010. This luxury sedan is in process to revamp in the company's Chennai facility. Ford car demands on a high

Indian counterpart of American car maker, Ford India Motors, expects higher sales volumes during the festive season. It will increase its vehicle production by almost 30 percent. "We have been producing about 130 vehicles a day but this will be increased to 174 vehicles a day this month," Ford India President and MD Michael Boneham.

Ford India all set to ramp up its Chennai unit

Ford India MD and president Michael Boneham told that the fully-owned subsidiary of the US auto major Ford Motors, Ford India Motors will be one of the major production hubs for the parent company’s operations in the Asia-African region.

Ford India is all set to invest $500 million to ramp up its Chennai plant’s production capacity to 2-lakh vehicles by 2010.

Ford to increase vehicle production

In view of upcoming festival season in India, American car maker Ford decided to increase the vehicle production in the country. At present it makes 130 vehicles a day. This number is to be increased to 174 a day. That means it will be increased by 30 per cent. It’s brand new Ford Endeavour being launched in Indian market next week. Ford India wants to use EcoBoost to power cars

Ford India is planning to introduce its EcoBoost engine technology that would raise fuel mileage by 20 percent. EcoBoost, which uses gasoline turbocharged direct-injection technology, the new engine also lowers carbon dioxide  emissions by 15 percent as compared to the conventional petrol and diesel engines'

Michael Boneham president and MD Ford India said, “Initially, we will go for the regular technology to develop 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine to benefit from government’s policy of lower excise on such engine sizes and introduce the much expensive EcoBoost engines in the long-term.”

Ford plans to launch small car

Ford has started work on a new low-cost small car. The new small car would not be confined to one market but will be available across all markets spanning countries like India, China,Eastern Europe and South America. This car that will be tagged as a "Rs 3 lakh-plus price range" car will be one of the low-cost cars for the company globally. John G Parker, Ford group executive V-P for Asia-Pacific and Africa has made this statement to the press that, "We plan to grow business in B(small) cars globally, and especially in the Asia-Pacific region where we plan to raise the share of B cars to our line-up from 15% to 45%."

Hyundai, Suzuki and GM too have shifted base to India so even Ford may do that. Potential wise India may be the preferred destination for the global development and manufacturing base for such a low-cost car but this is not the case as yet.

Ford to start all its exports via Chennai Port by 2010

Car manufacturer Ford wants to start the small car launch in 2010. Ford, which is currently using Mumbai Port to route exports. But by the year 2010, Ford would be in a position to do all its exports via the Chennai Port.

Ford till date has shipped out around 170 vehicles to South Africa. The small car segment constitutes 70 percent of the market. Ford considers India as a key manufacturing hub in the Asia Pacific region.

Ford India introduced its new variant, Ikon ikool, of Ford Ikon in India. Equipped with Duratorq TDCi 1.4 diesel and ROCAM 1.3 petrol engines, these models will be available from tomorrow. The ex-showroom price of the car in Delhi is Rs 4.82 lakh for petrol version and Rs 5.42 lakh for diesel version. Ford's  New Fiesta SXI launched in India

Ford India has launched its new model of Fiesta SXI in the country. This refresh model is available in chrome and silver finish. New features include in car is brand chrome faced and crystal barrel headlamps. Fiesta SXI sports 1.6L Duratec petrol engine and 1.4L Duratorq diesel engine. The model will be available for sale from 3rd of August. Petrol version of Fiesta SXI is priced at Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 7.99 lakh (both ex-showroom New Delhi) is the price tag of diesel version.

Ford testing prototypes of its small car

Ford India is testing its yet-to-be launched compact car's prototype on the road. The number of prototypes is nearly 300. The car is expected to introduce by early 2010. Ford Endeavour records 29% market share in SUV segment

Ford Endeavour registered a 29% market share in the SUV segment in the first three months of the year. In this period the company sold more than 580 units. "The Ford Endeavour continued to be supreme and came out strong in the first three months of the year and we are proud of our clear numero-uno position," Ford India Vice-President Timothy Tucker said in a release. Ford Endeavour is available in two variants 2.5 L XLT and 3.0 L Thunder Plus. Ford to increase Ikon's price

Due to the rupee depreciation Ford India is planning to increase prices of its Ford Ikon from the next month. It may increase up to 1.5 per cent from the last price. But the other model price sticker will be unchanged. Ford India’s Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Nigel Wark said that there will be an increase in the prices of Ford Ikon. by up to 15 per cent. He added that due to that exchange rate fluctuation their import bills for components had increased and that is reason they thought it was a logical step to tinker the price upwards a bit to offset the impact.
