The 2.8-litre and 3.0-litre petrol engines will give you a mileage of around 8-9kmpl and 7kmpl in city conditions while expect the 2.0-litre diesel engine to return a fuel efficiency of around 9-10kmpl. Its 3.0-litre diesel engine will return a mileage of around 7kmpl. The V6 3.0 TFSI engine churns out a peak output of 295 bhp at 5250-6500rpm and a maximum torque of 440 Nm at 2900-4500rpm. In Indian sub-continent Audi A6 is available with both petrol and diesel engine. The petrol variant of the car A6 2.8 FSI is equipped with a 2.8 L V6 engine and offers a mileage of 9.6kmpl on Indian roads and A6 3.0 TFSI churns out power of 220 KW at 5250-6500rpm and a maximum torque of 440 Nm at 2900-4500rpm. Power of Audi A6

Strong acceleration is available from 1600rpm, and the car stays in the thick of the torque curve until nearly 4000rpm. In fact, the opportunity for a near-perfect flow of power is there to be taken and denied only by its gear ratios. Even as it is, the A6 motor will promptly hit 100kmph in 8.9sec and, if you keep your foot to it not stop until it’s showing the far side of 225.03kmph. The 3.0 TDI V6 engine starts with a gentle shudder; once you’re cruising you’ll barely hear it. That’s partly because Audi’s twin-clutch gearbox is quick to change up, keeping revs low whenever possible, but mainly because Audi’s done a stunning job of insulating this car’s powertrain. Wind insulation is very well suppressed too, thanks to a low drag coefficient of just 0.26. Until the undoubted arrival of something to rival the E63 AMG and BMW M5, the hottest A6 is the 3.0-litre BiTDi V6 diesel. It’s smooth and powerful, dispatching the 0-100kmph sprint in an impressive 5.1sec. The hottest 3.0-litre V6 petrol covers the same sprint in 5.5sec.

While the Petrol variant Audi A6 3.0 TFSI picks up from 0kmph to 100kmph in just 5.5 seconds and can touch the top speed of 250kmph. New A6 2.8 FSI can attain a speed of 100kmph from 0 in a time span of 7.7 seconds and can touch the top speed of 240kmph.
Audi A6 Exteriors

Visually, the new Audi A6 looks better than before and its rivals including Mercedes E class and BMW 5 series. The aggressive appeal of this car is the biggest USP of it. It is extremely stylish headlights with LED daylight running light strips are irresistible. Audi has made sure that not a single line should go wrong in its designing and it’s quite visible. It shares its platform with Audi A7 which makes it look like its elder sibling from some angles. Bold shoulder lines and elongated rear quarter glass confirms you that it’s an A6. Its 10 spoke 17 inch alloy wheels add charm to its beauty. Rear styling seems to be inspired from A8 as it has stretched LED tail lights with an in-built spoiler on its boot which makes this car look premium and mature. Audi A6 exudes a “We mean business look” with its aggressive frontier that will make you sit up and look. The straight line and neat cuts display perfection with ingenuity. The features at the exterior that add to its grace are Alloy wheels, Adjustable Headlights, Fog Lights (Front), Power Adjustable Exterior Rear View Mirror, Electric Folding Rear View Mirror, Rain Sensing Wiper, Rear Window Wiper, Rear Window Washer, Rear Window Defogger, tinted glass, sun roof, moon roof, Outside Rear View Mirror Turn Indicators. Any car like the Audi A6 that bucks the trend towards increasingly and needlessly overweight design and actually proves substantially lighter than the one it replaces will always start on the right foot. It bears repeating: a light car will be easier to stop, quicker to accelerate, faster through the corners, more frugal and less environmentally destructive than a heavier one. All other things being equal, it will also be more fun to drive. Although the shape is not only more purposeful than before but, with those trademark daytime running lights, also more distinctively Audi than ever. Under the sleek, modern bonnet remains the oddity of a north-south engine which, for the bulk of sales, is powering a front-drive car — a unique feature in the class. Slim C-pillars and effective rear quarter lights provide impressive over-the-shoulder visibility. In spite of the wide rear screen, the boot aperture is relatively small, but the boot’s 535-litre capacity is just 10 litres less than the Mercedes E-class’s and 10 litres more than that of the BMW 5-series.
Audi A6 Interior

Audi's tend to be defined by their interiors and that’s the case with the Audi A6. Indeed, it was Audi’s realisation around 20 years ago that this is where the vast bulk of an owner’s perception of quality lies (and producing a series of world-class cabins as a result) that helped to create the enviable reputation for style and luxury that it enjoys today. The A6 builds further on these standards. In the class, it is second to none in terms of the calibre of materials used, where you can see and might commonly touch them, and also where you won’t. The A6 saloon also offers enough cabin space for models at the top of the range to pose a serious threat to the entry-level and not notably roomy A8, which may not have been what was intended. In even saloon form it also has a bigger boot than the A8. The Avant's boot space lags behind the class-leading Mercedes E-class's, but is big enough for most people's typical needs. But for two separate and distinct reasons, it is held back from achieving the kind of rating you might expect any Audi to be capable of earning. First, although the cabin is genuinely attractive, ergonomically it is remarkably similar to the old A6, and the game has moved on. Audi’s MMI control system once represented the state of the art, but now Mercedes has at least caught up and BMW’s iDrive is clearly ahead. The graphics now look rather last generation, even if commendably, the navigation system itself is standard. Moreover, you have only to look inside an E-class to know what a sense of occasion can now be achieved in this class. Svelte and stylish though the A6 cabin is, it feels one stop short of true luxury. The second problem is more serious and concerns the pedals of the manual car. They are offset so far to the right that the clutch pedal is directly beneath the steering column. Some drivers will never notice it, but others will resent this fault daily.
Audi A6 Engine and Performance
The Audi A6 is offered with four engine options; two each of petrol and diesel. The first petrol motor is a 2.8LFSi engine with a maximum power output of 203bhp at 5250rpm with a torque output of 280Nm ranging from 3000rpm – 5000rpm. The second V6 3.0LTFSi engine yields out a power and torque output of 298bhp and 440Nm at 5250rpm and 2900rpm respectively. The 2.0LTDi diesel engine churns out a peak power of 176bhp at 3750rpm with a torque output of 380Nm ranging from 1750-2500rpm. The second V6 3.0LTDi diesel engine generates utmost power of 244bhp at 4000rpm with 500Nm of torque coming as early as 1400rpm. The petrol and the diesel V6 3.0L engines are available with four wheel drive system. All these engines are mated with 7-speed automatic transmission. Due to its all light aluminium hybrid body, it manages to be on the faster side with having better power to ratio than most of its competitors. Its 3.0L petrol unit is the fastest amongst all four engines offered in A6. It does 0-100kmph within 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 250kmph. The second fastest is the V6 3.0LTDi engine which reaches 100kmph in almost 6.0 seconds with a top speed of 250kmph. The basic 2.8FSi petrol unit reaches a top speed of 240 km/hour with completing dash-100kmph in less than 8.0 seconds. Its 2.0LTDi engine feels slower than other engines and its rivals as it takes more than 8.0 seconds to complete 0-100kmph with a top speed of 222kmph. The best performance is experienced when you drive the 3.0L diesel or petrol unit.
Wheels
The New Audi A6 2.0 TDI and New Audi A6 2.8 FSI are front wheel driven Audi cars with multi tronic transmission. A6 3.0 TDI Quattro and A6 3.0 TFSI Quattro is a permanent all-wheel drive with S tonic transmission. All the models of New Audi A6 10 spoke have 8Jx17 cast aluminium wheels. The tyre size is 225/55 R 17. Buyers can also go for the optional all season tyres
Braking & Handling
Audi A6 gets a new suspension system with new chassis. Now it comes with air adjustable suspension which means better hold of road with less effect of big bumps inside as it is self-adjustable. It comes equipped with ventilated disk brakes on its all four wheels. Audi A6 has a minimum turning radius of 11.9m which makes its handling much easier in city traffic. Its steering responses really well and the car feels very relaxed at high speed corners thanks to its R17 size of fatty tyres which along with its air springs keep it grounded on road. The wheelbase of 2912mm provides extra stability to this car at high speeds with minimal body roll. Here is a large, base-spec, front-drive Audi saloon with grip, balance and poise, a car you might choose to drive with some spirit down a decent road. What it lacks is the fluidity of steering response that you find in its best rear-drive rivals. It has a slightly numb feel as you go off centre, which doubtless does wonders for autobahn stability but drives a wedge between the car and a driver wishing to feel in touch with its operation. The S-line Quattro models ride motorway expansion joints noisily and fidget over minor surface imperfections that equally focused rivals might have ironed out. The trade-off, however, is commendable body control and handling composure on testing roads. Wider tracks front and rear and Audi’s latest Quattro drivetrain (equipped with that fast-acting crown gear centre differential) give the new A6 deep reserves of traction and handling precision. Progress has been made with the brakes, too. They now have a meatier pedal feel in place of the overly assisted system of its predecessor.
Handling & Safety
The top model of A6 features 8 airbags, traction control, and all-wheel drive grip, with EBD. Other safety features include anti-theft alarm, rain and light sensing wipers and lights etc. Also in order to ensure better handling, Audi has put in ABS, Brake Assist, traction control, and electronic differential lock, electronic stabilisation programme and electromechanical power steering in the Audi A6. Besides there are more safety features in Audi A6 such as lightweight aluminium hybrid construction with fully-galvanised anti-corrosion unitary construction, side impact protection, child-proof locks, full size airbags, side airbags, rear side airbags, integral head restraint system, safety steering column, seat belt reminder and warning triangle.
Stereo & Accessories in Audi A6
It has a long list of features which includes 4 zone automatic air conditioning, leather seats, key less entry, centre armrests at its front and rear with rear AC vents, sunroof, electric adjustable seats, outside mirrors, parking camera and many more. Audi A6 has a DVD changer with 13 BOSE sound systems and sports a 20GB hard drive. It also has Bluetooth and iPod connectivity which allows you to play your music gadgets directly. It has steering mounted audio controls.
