Pros : Features, Interiors and Performance

Cons : Mileage not impressive

Look and Style Hello friends, I have bought Fiat Grande Punto petrol 1.2 liter, the car is perfect in terms of looks. The front curves resemble Fiat Linea, the sedan. Its sporty appearance makes its looks more appealing. Not only the exteriors,  the interiors of Fiat Grande Punto are attractive and eye-catching as well. Comfort In terms of comfort, I would say that the car has got ample of space at both its front and rear cabins. Height adjustable driver seat is comfortable. There is ample of space at the rear cabin and three passengers can comfortably sit on the rear seat. Pickup Pick up of Fiat Grande Punto is impressive. While driving on highways, Punto keeps a good grip on the ground like the German cars available in the same range (Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Fabia). Acceleration and performance is superb in comparison to Hyundai i20 and Maruti Swift. Mileage Mileage is the only point of concern. I get a mileage of 12 in city conditions and 14-15 on highways, where as the other competing cars like Maruti Swift petrol give a mileage of 14 in city conditions and 17-18 on highways. After consulting with the service station mechanic at Tata showroon regarding the mileage, I was assured of improved mileage after couple of servicings . If this is true, I would say the car is fabulous . Best Features Fiat Grande Punto Emotion is bestowed with many innovative and exciting features like Cruise Control, Adjustable Steering Column, Outside Temperature Display , Cigarette Lighter Power Adjustable Exterior Rear View Mirror, Rain Sensing Wiper etc. From the safety parameters too, the car is outstanding as it comes equipped with Brake assist, Central Locking, Powerful Hydraulic Brakings and its strong body shell can bear heavy impacts. Needs to improve Fiat should improve its servicing network and the company should make petrol variant of Punto more fuel efficient. Overall Experience Its been a month since I have bought the car and so far the experience has been good. I have driven it in almost all the conditions here in Maharastra and the power engine is amazing. If any one is opting to buy this car I would say, yes its a value for money car, Go Ahead.

Wish you best of luck for your car. But i think you dont have latest updates from Fiat. Its a big bad news for all Fiat car owners... In Both Fiat Punto & Fiat Linea, AC mechanism is failed.. Fiat already announced it and the cars will be recalled soon for a AC replacement. I strongly suggest not to buy any FIAT cars in INDIA....

    Shazz |14 Feb,2011 06:42:59 PM

Its not a bad news my friend ..but its a good will gesture from the FIAT that they are upgrading the AC for PUNTO PETROL and linea PETROL for no extra cost.. sold before nov 2010.New models are already coming with upgraded AC units. Please dont have a pessimist view for FIAT cars as they are brilliant and moreover the people who mostly foul mouth FIAT cars are mostly who have never owned these new breed of FIAT cars.....

Hi Shazz, I wish you all the best for your car.. But surely every one knows FIAT is not a valuable brand in India as all of their previous cars in india are failures... And today AC is failed for all cars delivered till December. Tomorrow??????.... There are many people talks about service... We all know FIAT's service level via TATA... I still suggest all Car buyers to to buy any FIAT cars in India... There are many other good cars in India than Fiat Punto & Linea at the same price tag.... There are many of my friends who had already regretted themselves for buying this Punto.... We all will wait & see....!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi sriram, if you are talking about recalls toyota has recalled record number cars in the US that includes some of their most prestigious cars with problems such as accelerator getting stuck does that mean that toyota is a failed brand?? moreover in JD power pacific survey customer satisfaction for FIAT cars is only second to Maruti i.e higher than GM,Hyundai, and toyota. So please don't be pessimist and if you own it then speak otherwise ya wait and see!!!

Dear All, I am not against FIAT. I just shared my experience.. Many of my friends are not even ready to think about buying the FIAT cars... Bcos they already owned FIAT... I have test drove all cars in this segment of premium hatchback. This is my rating of the cars available right now from the best to worst. 1) VW Polo (But High Maintenance) 2) Hynudai i20 3) Skoad Fabia 4) Maruti Swift (Evergreen) 5) Fiat Punto 6) Ford Figo 7) The worst Chevrolet UVA.... So we all will wait & see the results in the next anual report :-) of premium hatchback segment... All the best dudes... Still i strongly suggest new car buyers to think well before buying FIAT cars... My rating based on Style, Comfort, Stability, Ride Quality, Engine Performance, Pickup, & Mileage..... Hi, i am using a fiat punto 1.2 petrol. brought on aug 2009. in never drove my car without AC. i never faced any problen in AC till. leave that. but one thing i want to tell is the car performance is superb when you drive it in 30 kph or 90 kph or even in 160 kph. i never see such performance in any other cars in this series and in this price range. the stability and performance is un matched with any other cars in this price tag. and my friend sriram was telling about the FIAT service from tata. i feel tata FIAT is really excallent compared to other service. so no regrets being an owner of FIAT PUNTO..

Hi I hv a diesel punto and completed more than 55000 kms. Even few sedans cannot compare with this car in terms of handling performance and safety. abt fiat experience the owners who have purchased new fiat like pali uno petra etc ask them they tell u that they used their vehicle for years without trouble and then sold. Only the buyers who go for cheap second hand fiat not maintained complains abt the car. If anybody wants to buy the car plz feel free to call me I can explain why to go for punto. Raja 9422892534

Hey guys i will just say one point that not even a single hatch can stand beside PUNTO , not even the popular company MAZDA.For swift first service is for 1000 kms but for punto first service is for 5000kms.For swift engine oil should be changed for 8000-10000 kms only but for PUNTO its after 15000 kms engine oil should be changed.VW polo's and skoda's engine oil should be changed for every 2000 kms.Hyundai i20's engine oil should be changed for every 6000kms.Is this enough to say FIAT is a low maintenance car.In the end of 2011 FIAT is launching new LINEA,its maintenance is very low that its first service is for 10000 kms and engine oil should be changed for every 35000kms.

For all your information, In my family, we own Maruti Swift Zxi, Honda Jazz, Hyundai Accent, TATA Sumo and a 12 years old Maruti 800.... So i believe that i have made a good review of all cars... Unfortunately, Punto is not a great car, not just punto.. Any cars from FIAT in India.... For Class Car - Honda Jazz/VW Polo/Skoda Fabia is best... For Economic & low maintenance - Swift & i20 are better... No other choices in Premium hatchback segment...

  • sriram |16 Feb,2011 09:08:42 PM

I also hope you all know that i am owning a VW Polo 1.2L Petrol Trendline as well....

  • sriram |16 Feb,2011 09:21:13 PM

Please understand many things before conversation.... Polo comes with 1.2L &1.6L in Petrol. 1.6L of Diesel is yet to be announced... Read all VW news in cardehko dude.... With this i stop the conversation... I suggest all New Car buyers to view review about all cars in overdrive & auto selector program. It is available in Youtube... I recommend two categories of cars. If you want a class, comfort & stylinsh car, Honda Jazz (expensive), VW Polo, Skoda Fabia which are high maintenance cars (30 to 40% more than Maruti/Hyundai).... If you want a economic & low maintenance cars, Hyundai i20 (good car), Maruti Swift (Evergreen superstar except interiors)..... Other choices are based upon your wish... Wish you all to have a great & safe car.....
