The 2 litre petrol engine has a widespread excessive oil consumpt...

Overall Experience I bought my A4 2.0TFSI in May 2010. From the time I had put on about 3500 kilometers, the car started showing excessive oil consumption problems. Ever since (over the next 13,000 kilometers), I've had to do frequent oil top ups (approximately one litre of synthetic oil every 1000 kilometers initially). When we initially reported the problem, after much persuasion, Audi service station admitted that excessive oil consumption problem has been reported by other A4 2.0 owners as well, and Audi was working to find a solution. In February 2011, the service station did the repairs (replacement of oil separator and oil seal). After the repairs, the problem severely aggravated...now the car required top ups every 500 KM or so!! Audi took the car back to the service station, and replaced the pistons, with an admission that my car had a manufacturing defect. A quick research on the internet shows that this problem is reported widely in this engine. People who have got new pistons installed are also not fully satisfied (the problem crops up after the car runs a while with the new pistons). Audi is aware of this issue, but trying to deny it as a problem, at least in India. I understand that several A4 2.0 TFSI cars in India have also got pistons replaced. This is not a I hate Audi frivolous review. Anyone considering an A4 should be aware of this issue.
