Mitsubishi Motors India has officially launched the refurbished version of its high performance SUV Pajero Sport in the country's automobile market. This time, the manufacturer has also introduce a new variant with five speed automatic transmission gearbox. This latest variant is badged as Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 4x2 AT, which is equipped with the same 2.5-litre diesel engine. This mill is capable of producing 175.56bhp along with an immense torque output of 400Nm. However, this latest variant is available with two-wheel drive option. Apart from the transmission and drive type, all the other technical specifications including braking and suspension mechanism have been retained from its predecessor. The automaker has refurbished its front facade by modifying the radiator grille, headlight cluster and bumper, which enhances its aggressive appeal. As far as its interiors are concerned, this latest version is now bestowed with an advanced infotainment system featuring a high resolution TFT color screen on its central console. It supports music system, navigator and provides visual parking aid as well. This variant is equipped all the comfort features like automatic air conditioning unit, leather seats, key-less entry system and multi-functional steering wheel. It also has important safety aspects including airbags, three point seat-belts, ABS with EBD and engine immobilizer. It will now lock horns with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU7 and Chevrolet Captiva in the Indian automobile market.

Exteriors:

This newly introduced variant gets several updates in terms of its external appearance, which gives it a refreshing new look. The automaker has completely modified its radiator grille with new design and embodied it with expressive chrome strips. Surrounding this is the bigger headlight cluster with dual barrel design, which is powered by projector headlamps and turn indicators. The front bumper too gets a re-treatment with a pronounced air dam, which is fitted with an aluminum protective cladding. Furthermore, the fog lamp consoles too have been refined, which have black background. The overall new look of its frontage is complimented by the stylish company's insignia, which is embedded on to the grille. The side profile looks mostly identical to its predecessor but there is an additional rear view mirror fitted above the front wheel arch of left side. It has masculine wheel arches which are fitted with a set of stylish alloy wheels. The window sills along with B and C pillars have been treated in black, while the ORVM caps and door handles are garnished in chrome. Its outside rear view mirrors are now equipped with turn indicators, which provides additional safety. Furthermore, its doors are elegantly decorated with 'Pajero Sport' sticker, which emphasizes its new look. The rear profile gets a slightly tweaked taillight cluster with black wraparound, which is equipped with brake light and turn indicators. The tailgate has a masculine structure, which is equipped with a large windscreen along with a wiper. Furthermore, it is elegantly decorated with a chrome plated strip along with company's insignia, which gives it a magnificent look.

Interiors:

The internal cabin of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 4x2 AT trim gets the same design with dual tone beige and black color scheme. However, its central console is now mounted with a TFT high resolution color display instead of multi-information screen. It supports navigator function along with several media files including video and audio. The dashboard remains to be same with dual tone color scheme, which is further decorated with brushed aluminum inserts. It houses several advanced equipments like AC unit, music system and several ergonomically positioned control switches. The instrument cluster has three round shaped meters with chrome surround, which provides informatics like tachometer, fuel gauge, vehicle's speed and numerous other notification lamps. The steering wheel has three spokes that is decorated with aluminum inserts and mounted with multi-functional switches. It is now wrapped with a new leather upholstery, which adds to its elegance. The cockpit is furnished with well-cushioned seats, wherein the driver's seat has electrical adjustment facility. There are number of utility based features incorporated inside like dual front sun visors, accessory power sockets, front center armrest, storage spaces and drink holders.

Engine and Performance:

Powering this latest variant is the same 2.5-litre diesel engine that has common rail direct fuel injection technology. It comprises of 4-cylinders, 16-valves that displaces 2477cc. It also has a variable geometry turbocharger, which enables it to pump out a maximum power of 175.56bhp at 4000rpm along with a hammering torque output of 400Nm. The car maker has paired this power plant with an advanced five speed automatic transmission gearbox, which delivers torque output to the rear wheels. The car maker claims that the vehicle can give away a mileage of approximately 12 Kmpl, which is quite good. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 Kmph speed mark in mere 11 seconds and can go up to a maximum speed in the range of 185 Kmph.

Braking and Handling:

The car maker has fitted its front wheels with a set of ventilated brake discs, while pairing its rear rims with ventilated drum-in-discs. It also has advanced anti lock braking system that collaborates with electronic brake force distribution and hydraulic brake boosters. As far as its suspension is concerned, it has 3-link type of suspension on its rear axle, while the front axle is coupled with double wishbone type of system. In addition to this, it is also fitted with coil springs and stabilizer bars, which augments this mechanism.

Comfort Features:

This Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 4x2 AT trim is bestowed with several sophisticated comfort features, which makes the journey comfortable. The car maker has retained all the aspects including automatic AC unit, central door locking system, power steering system with tilt adjustment, electric type tailgate opening, accessory power socket, power windows with one touch operation and bottle holders on all doors. This variant also has aspects like power adjustable driver's seat, key-less entry system, driver's side sun visor with ticket holder, power operated outside mirrors and cigarette lighter. The car maker has also incorporated an advanced infotainment system featuring a high resolution TFT display. It supports 2-DIN music system along with navigation and provides visual parking assistance.

Safety Features:

The car maker has used high tensile steel in crucial locations, which makes it rigid and enhances its ability to deal with jolts in case of an accident. It is incorporated with advanced safety aspects including dual front airbags, 3-point ELR seat belts, side impact protection beams and anti-intrusion brake pedal. It also has aspects like ABS wih EBD, electronic engine immobilizer and automatic unlock of doors in case of a crash.
