Maruti Swift is one of the most popular and economical hatchbacks produced by MSIL in the country. It is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. There are several trims available, of which, Maruti Swift LDI is their entry level diesel variant. The company has launched its facelifted version with a view to improve its sales further. This includes a few added features like a distinctive bumper, tweaked radiator grille and wheel caps on the outside. In terms of interiors, it gets 60:40 split folding rear seat and new fabric upholstery. Besides this, its wraparound premium trims further gives a plush appeal to its interiors. There are also some utility based aspects available like rear parcel shelf, front door trim pocket, ticket holder and so on. The leg and head space is also quite good which enhances their convenience. Meanwhile, it retains the same 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine, which now delivers an impressive fuel economy of 25.2 Kmpl. This can churn out a peak power of 74bhp along with 190Nm maximum torque output. It is incorporated with an efficient braking as well as suspension system that helps in maintaining the stability of vehicle. It is currently sold in three new exterior paint options like Fire Red, Mysterious Violet and Granite Grey apart from the Pearl Arctic White, Silky Silver and Glistening Grey colors. This faces competition from Ford Figo, Toyota Etios Liva, Fiat Punto Evo and a few others in this segment.

Exteriors:

It is blessed with refreshing exterior aspects, which further enhances its overall appearance. Starting with the front fascia, it has a wide windscreen that is made of green tinted glass. The rear end features a large windshield with a high mount stop lamp and a well designed tail light cluster. It has an expressive boot lid and a body colored bumper as well. This car is designed with an overall length of 3850mm along with a total width of 1695mm and height of 1530mm. It has a wheelbase of 2630mm, while the minimum ground clearance comes to 170mm.

Interiors:

This Maruti Swift LDI variant is blessed with a spacious cabin that gives enough leg and head room to its occupants. It is incorporated with well cushioned seats for five passengers, which are covered with premium fabric upholstery. There is a smooth dashboard The smooth dashboard is equipped with a large glove box, AC vents and a three spoke steering wheel . It also has an instrument panel that includes few functions and displays notifications as well. It includes a lot of utility based aspects like three assistant grips, sun visor with ticket holder, room lamp, front door trim pockets, front seat back pockets, rear parcel shelf and a few other such features.

Engine and Performance:

The manufacturer has incorporated it with a 1.3-litre diesel engine that has a fixed geometry turbocharger and an intercooling system. It carries 4-cylinders, 16 valves and is based on a double overhead camshaft valve configuration . This mill has the ability to displace 1248cc and is integrated with a common rail based direct injection supply system. It can deliver a maximum mileage of 25.2 Kmpl, when driven on bigger roads, which is quite impressive. The maximum power generated by this motor is 74bhp at 4000rpm along with a peak torque output of 190Nm at 2000rpm. It is skillfully paired with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which allows the vehicle to attain a top speed of about 154 Kmph. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 Kmph in nearly 14.8 seconds from a standstill, which is rather good for this segment.

Braking and Handling:

This entry level trim is bestowed with an efficient suspension system that keeps the vehicle well balanced at all times. The front axle is assembled with a McPherson strut and a torsion beam is used for the rear one. The braking system is quite reliable wherein, its front wheels are fitted with a set of ventilated disc brakes , while sturdy drum brakes are used for the rear ones. On the other hand, it comes with a rack and pinion based electronic power steering system that has tilt adjustment function. This also supports a minimum turning circle of 4.8 meters, which makes handling quite easy on city roads.

Comfort Features:

There are quite a few comfort features available in this Maruti Swift LDI variant, which makes the journey quite comfortable. Some of these include remote fuel lid and back door opener, front power windows with driver's side auto down function, retractable cup holder, rear seat back folding facility, manual air conditioning system with a heater, lane change indicator and a 12V power socket for charging phones and other devices. It also has an advanced instrument cluster that displays notifications like driver seat belt reminder, low fuel and door closure warning light, which further adds to the comfort level.
