Maruti has been the favorite in India for their fuel efficient cars and also for their excellent customer service. They have always been very forward with their CSR and another initiative that they have come up with recently is the higher education scheme along with the HSBTE (Haryana State Board of Technical Education) and HISCET (Haryana-IGNOU Society for Community Education and Training), which has been exclusively designed for Maruti’s shop floor technicians.
The program will offer a 3 years Diploma in Engineering, part time in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics engineering streams. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. will support the technicians by subsidizing the fee up to 50% and for the remaining 50%, an interest free loan will be offered to the those who fare meritorious in this course, and not only this but those who enroll to the program will get special leaves as well during exams. The selection for the program will be through an entrance exam and the classes will be held in the HISCET campus at Manesar (HISCET = Haryana-IGNOU Society for Community Education & Training.
After completion of the course with the first division i.e. 60% marks of equivalent CGPA, the technician will be considered for promotion to the supervisor’s cadre. With this MSIL is giving an opportunity to the technicians to fulfill their career aspirations and grow. This initiative will not help just MSIL in their future endeavors but will also help the shop-floor members to improve their education and in turn help them build their capabilities.
