Maruti Suzuki Alto is Once Again the Country's Best-Seller

Maruti Suzuki Alto has always been one of India’s best selling cars. In a surprise move however, Maruti Suzuki Swift displaced Alto in last months sales figures. Maruti Suzuki sold 19, 484 units of the Swift for the month of April whereas the Alto had a sale of only 17,842 units. Maruti Suzuki Alto re-claimed its rightful throne and retaliated with its sales figures reaching 20,724 units for the month of May followed closely by the Swift’s sale of 20,050 units thus successfully jumping ahead of the Swift yet again.

    Maruti Alto

The new Swift was launched last year in August. Initially Maruti Suzuki faced major problems in regards to their production due to issues that cropped up because of strikes. This however has been rectified and the company has ramped up their production. The simplest reason one can give for the drop in the sales figures of the Alto for the month of April is possibly the increase in cost of fuel and the increase in price after the budget.
