Maruti Suzuki has announced its highest selling model; The Maruti Suzuki Alto. The Alto has crossed the 20 lakh total sales mark. This mark was reached after 11 years and 9 months of service on the Indian roads. "Alto's superior fuel efficiency, compact sleek design, good maneuverability and overall low cost of ownership are the attributes that make it the best car for the first time buyers," MSI Chief Operating Officer, (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said.
He also added that the Alto was the fastest Maruti to cross the 10 lakh sales mark within just eight years and three months of its launch in 2000. And now it has already broken the 20 lakh mark within a mere three years, six months. Alto was also the only car to reach the 3 lakh units sold milestone for the year 2010-11.
