EXCLUSIVE: Fiat to launch the Punto Adventure by mid-2014

Fiat India has been planning to introduce seven new models in the coming three years, and the Punto Adventure will be one of them. The Punto Adventure will be based on the Punto, however it will be somewhat similar to the existing Punto. Our sources confirm that the Punto Adventure will get a more rugged look, to make it more like an SUV.

The Cross Polo is an attempt of Volkswagen to make a more rugged version of the Polo. However, Fiat will be attempting to make a tougher version. It won’t just have cladding, but we can expect larger size vehicles too. We can expect them to even mount a rear wheel on the boot. Though we aren’t sure of how will they design it. This version will have distinctive styling like the way Palio Adventure had from the Palio and Petra.

The Punto Adventure is slated to be launched sometime by mid-2014 and this will be powered by the 1.3-litre multijet engine that will produce 93bhp of power and about 200Nm of maximum torque. This year, the company will launch the Abarth Punto, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Cherokee. The Linea Classic is another sedan that Fiat will introduce. This will be the Linea that will be lighter and even have lesser features, than the existing version. We can also expect the 1.3-litre multijet engine to be detuned to 75bhp than the existing 93bhp. This will be a C segment sedan that will compete with the Toyota Etios, Mahindra Verito and other similarly priced vehicles.
