The new 8HP entered volume production at the start of July in the BMW 520d as the 8HP50 version that is designed for torques of up to 500 Nm. In the future, the 8HP75 will be part of the ZF portfolio for drives with even higher torque of up to 750 Nm. Gradually, all further automotive manufacturers to whom ZF has already supplied the 8HP in over 1,000 vehicle applications will utilize the latest generation of the 8-speed automatic transmission.We shall see these transmissions in India too.
BMW, the German luxury carmaker has announced that it has orders for nearly around 10,000 i3 electric cars. The deliveries for the vehicle has already been commenced, and the first slot of the hatch were delivered in Germany last week.
BMW seems very aggressive with its strategies to regain its lost market share in the Indian car market. The company has recently launched 1 Series premium hatchback, and is all set to launch the facelifted 5 Series tomorrow in India. Moreover, the company will launch the 3 Series GT in the country by the early 2014. Surprisingly, the German luxury carmaker is also considering the all-electric i3 and i8 hybrid for the Indian car market.
