Pros : Space, Sturdy look, pick up

Cons : The rear of the car is almost same as Logan

Honest confession… I wasn’t going to test drive this car but because of the price range I thought about it. Though after the test drive I am 100% convinced about it. My experience with the car was as follows: Look and Style Mahindra Verito isn’t one of the most stylish vehicles in town when you look at it. The car looks a little better than the Logan. Though from the rear side, it still has the same old box shape. The interior space although is commendable. The good part is, as soon as you look at the car, you can make out that it is very well built and is very sturdy. The upholstery was also good, in fact gave the car a very pleasant feel.  Comfort As far as the interiors are concerned, as mentioned already, the car is very spacious with immense headroom and legroom. It is a good car to seat 5 comfortably. The rear seats are as spacious as the front, which is the best feature of this sedan. The boot space along with the seating is also very very decent. The car has all the basic comfort features like the power steering, powerful AC, power windows etc. make the drive very comfortable and pleasant. The problem though was that the indicators are still on the left hand, but guess once you drive this car on a regular basis, this is something that can be dealt with.  Pickup The handling of the car was surprisingly good with the quick pickup and easy acceleration. The seating position could be manually adjusted to and fro as well as the height. This is surely a feature that adds to the comfortable handling.  Mileage The company and reviews claim a mileage of 15-17 for the diesel model. After the test drive it seemed believable because of the comfort of the drive, easy gear shifts and ease of handling.  Best Features Without the doubt the best feature of the car was the space. Moreover, I would give the handling and smoothness of gear shifts a 6/10. (Don’t know how true it is, but I have heard that this gear shift smoothness doesn’t last for long.) Needs to improve For me, along with the looks, Mahindra might want to work on probably the brand image of the sedan or its positioning, whatever you want to call it. (Though the Verito man definition- strong, sturdy, rugged, well built… that’s actually true… ) Overall Experience Overall the test drive was decent. I might actually consider buying the car after a little research on the internet and probably a conversation with my mechanic. There isn’t anything wrong with the car or it isn’t that the car is lacking but somehow the feel of the car isn’t something that made me go “WOW” but then again, maybe I am a difficult shopper.

Its first appears makes too ugly, also, when people have more choices Mahindra Verito might fail due to its physical look. Indian market needs more passion with fashion car. In the first appearance I don't see the Pride in the car.

Pros:- Space, Sturdy, Mileage,Price,Leg and Boot Space. Cons:- Box Shaped Looks and not so flashy interiors. I am avid car lover and have really researched a lot recently before i bought this Verito D6. Its basically a makeover of the previous Renault Logan. At the first sight it doesnt seems to be an impressive car from out side with its box shaped looks from behind and fibre interiors. But hang on folks if u really want a value for your money and the comfy car here it is. Verito is the cheapest and a high value car in this segment and honestly u can compare with any make right now with the car makers around the Indian market. I can bet on that its got mostly everything a normal person will look for in his car.As for power it has got a 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder, 1461cc diesel engine which belts out maximum power of 65 hp at 4000 rpm and returns maximum torque of 160 Nm at 2000 rpm. The pick up though is a bit sluggish in the diesel segment initially but once its on the run u can forget the initial hick up which u wont complain on the run. The power steering, driver lumber support, front fog lamps, rear defogger, power windows, glove box light, trunk room light, rear head restraints, remote door locking, central locking,Driver Information System (DIS), electronic power assisted steering wheel, ABS , EBD and fully protected rear seats are features that everybody looks for. The boot space is huge and its a boon for this car. The best thing is the back seat which is really comfortable for 3 persons with huge leg room and individual head rest. With more than 170mm ground clearance no bumps are bumps to kiss your chassis. The gear shifting is smooth while u are paddling with the clutch, break and the accelerator and its doesn't seems that u are driving a diesel car.the mileage is awesome with 19.3Km/lt in city and 20.8 KM/Lt (Actual) in highways unless u are really in a jaw dropping hurry. The main thing that makes u feel a bit apprehensive about the car is the interiors with the poor looks. Now with the pricing of the car and keeping high aspirations is not fair either. The only things is that what Mahindra could have done is to change the looks of the center console as its looks too ordinary and cheap. But its a human mentality of Yeh dil mange more. So cant help it out. My suggestion with this is that anyone who wants to plan for a medium budget highly equipped sedan go for this New Mahindra Verito. Low maintenance and high results are its key factors. I not doing a promotion here for Mahindra but its a true fact for this car.And u wont regret.

I am fully convinced you are working for Mahindra & promoting their products. Or may be you are at all not aware about other products available which are far far cheaper and more attractive. Just go n test drive Nissan Suuny dsl and Renault any model. So once you test driver other products do write your comment.

Hi Manoj, First of all understand one thing. A company which is having second largest serice center worldwide and manufacturing vehicels for army and for defence purpose and exporting its brands . That is none other than our indian company tata. Proud to be indian first. At these price couple of lakhs less than other models , surely it was worth buying. Rgerding mahendra, Second largest indian company exporting their products apart asia. Dominance is not only because of price , but also for quality and comfort . Remeber this is also an indian company. Never underestimate any one company. If you have couple of lakhs and have to buy worth for money product go for tata or mahendra. IF you have more money then go for any other product. But dont critise any company. There is always better brand when we start to compare. Remember one thing always a beautiful lovers will not be a best wife.

Hi, There are some points you've made that I could not make sense out of. You've said:- --The company and reviews claim a mileage of 15-17 for the diesel model. After the test drive it seemed believable because of the comfort of the drive, easy gear shifts and ease of handling.-- How could you guess the mileage figures claimed by the company are correct based on the following 3 points ? (1) comfort of drive , (2) ease of gear shifts and (3) ease of handling I would greatly appreciate if you could explain this part. -Regards, Hitesh.

i think u dnt have any knowledge about automotives, all the foreign companies that are selling their vehicles here use to hike the price almost three to five times they sell in europe or us, infact a toyota camry costs around 12 lacs rupee in US and the same starts from around 22 lacs in india , the same thing is true for bmw , mercedes , volvo, honda etc in india.., just see mahindra xuv they cost 11 lacs in india and that is same to bmw or audi suv in foreign...so remember spending more doesnt mean getiing good.....its a poor indian mentality ....get rid of this...u can purchase bmw by taking loans but once if it pose any technical issue, u will run for service but no body will help u.....so stop talking nuts ....and undstand the truth and spend money fo real valued thing....

Verito is a great car , wish Mahindra could borrow the looks as that of the Dacia Logan.

I am using Logan Diesel BS-4 model since last 3 years. So far I have driven 75000 km. Before buying it here are few facts for maintenance. Every 10000 km Diesel filter ( Rs.1500), air filter (Rs.800) is to be changed. Service charge Rs1500/--. Few Months back on highway oil and coolant got mixed and oil started comming out from coolent bottle. On repair a replaced the following items, Oil cooler ( Rs.8000 generally out of stock), radiator (Rs.7000), coolent, coolent bottle CAP (Rs.1000) apart from labour charges. After changing the above items I have driven around 8500 kms. Today the same problem have occured twice. All the items will have to be changed again. I hardly drive 75kms daily and the car is in service center. The service adviser informed me that this is a common problem for BS-4 Verito. The part which failed is Oil cooler and smartly it comes with 3000km warrenty.

  • Shaliender Kumar |09 May,2014 04:12:34 PM

I'd not recommend this car for any new buyer, for the simple reason of high service costs. I have already spent Approx. INR 20,000 on services despite the car is still under 2 year standard warranty. In 2nd year of warranty period and brakes changed, AC filter changed twice. In addition the dealers are pathetic when it comes to spares for Verito. They say spares are not available generally for verito. Hence better to go for Maruti or any other Brand which has its 100% own model and not like Mahindra Verito which is a neglected child between Mahindra nd Renault.
