Etios Liva 2014-2016 G Review

For increasing the number of sales in the car market, the Toyota India has launched the facelifted version of its flagship hatchback, Etios Liva in the country's car market. It will compete against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10, Renault Pulse, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Fiat Punto EVO, Chevrolet Sail Hatchback and others in this segment. Now it is available with quite a few updated exterior and interior features that will certainly attract the buyers. It is being offered with both petrol and diesel engines in several trim levels. Among them Toyota Etios Liva G is the mid range variant. The internal cabin gets a greige color scheme, which is complemented by new fabric upholstered seats and door trims. It is also incorporated with dual front SRS airbags and driver seat belt reminder notification as standard features. In terms of exteriors, its frontage is designed with a revamped radiator grille and it gets a lot of titanium grey insert. On the other hand, there are no changes to its technical specifications. This variant is fitted with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine under the hood. It can displace 1197cc and can churn out 78.9bhp and 104Nm of power and torque respectively. This hatchback is being offered with a standard warranty of 3-years or 100000 Kilometers, whichever comes first. 

Exteriors:

With an aerodynamic body structure and modified features, its exteriors look quite attractive. Its side profile is defined by visible character lines. The door handles and outside rear view mirrors (integrated with side turn blinker) are painted in body color. Its flared up wheel arches are fitted with a set of 14-inch steel wheels, which have full wheel covers and are covered with 175/70 R14 sized tubeless tyres . The front fascia is designed with a well designed radiator grille with grey finish and it is embedded with a prominent chrome plated company's insignia. This grille is flanked by a radiant headlight cluster that is integrated with high intensity halogen lamps and side turn indicator. Its body colored bumper has a wide air intake section for cooling the engine. The windscreen is made of green tinted glass and is integrated with a pair of intermittent wipers. The rear end is elegantly designed with stylish tail light cluster, body colored bumper with a pair of reflectors and an expressive boot lid, which is embossed with variant badging. The windshield is integrated with a high mounted stop lamp that adds to the safety aspect. This hatchback is designed with an overall length of 3775mm, a total width of 1695mm and a decent height of 1510mm. It has a large wheelbase of 2465mm and a minimum ground clearance of 170mm.

Interiors:

The internal cabin of this Toyota Etios Liva G trim is quite spacious and incorporated with a number of sophisticated features. Its seating arrangement is very relaxing with well cushioned seats and ample space, which can easily accommodate five passengers. These seats are covered with new premium fabric upholstery, which is giving the interiors a refined look. Apart from this, the door arm rests also come with fabric inserts. It has a power steering system, which is very responsive and makes handling convenient. The dual tone dashboard features AC vents, a 3-spoke steering wheel, an instrument panel and a high volume glove box with cooling effect. This variant is incorporated with a lot of storage spaces such as cup and bottle holders, front seat back pockets and door map pockets. It has a 251 litre boot compartment, which can be increased by folding its rear seat. 

Engine and Performance:

This particular variant is fitted with a 1.2-litre, DOHC based petrol engine, which is integrated with 4-cylinders and 16-valves. It has the ability to displace 1197cc. This motor can churn out 78.9bhp at 5600rpm in combination with a peak torque output of 104Nm at 3100rpm. It is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which allows the hatchback to attain a top speed approximately 145 Kmph. At the same time, it can accelerate from 0-100 Kmph in close to 14 seconds. This petrol mill is incorporated with an EFI (electronic fuel injection) supply system that helps in delivering 17.71 Kmpl on the bigger roads and 15.1 Kmpl in the city traffic conditions.

Braking and Handling:

The braking and suspension mechanism of this Toyota Etios Liva G trim is quite efficient. Its front wheels are assembled with a set of ventilated disc brakes , while its rear wheels are fitted with conventional drum brakes. This braking mechanism is assisted by ABS along with electronic brake force distribution. It has been integrated with a responsive electric power steering system, which makes it easy to handle even in peak traffic conditions. This tilt adjustable steering wheel supports a minimum turning radius of 4.8 meters. On the other hand, its front axle is equipped with a McPherson strut, while rear one gets a torsion beam type of mechanism. This suspension mechanism keeps the vehicle well balanced and stable at all times.

Comfort Features:

This Toyota Etios Liva G variant is incorporated with some of the top rated comfort features that gives the occupants a pleasurable driving experience. The list includes an efficient air conditioning unit with heater and clean air filter , all four power windows with driver side auto down function, speakers, front cabin lights, adjustable front head restraints and several other such aspects.

Safety Features:

The list of protective aspects include seat belts for all occupants along with driver seat belt reminder notification, keyless entry, a defogger, fog lamps, a central locking system and high mounted stop lamp. For enhancing the safety quotient in case of any collision, the company has given it driver along with passenger side airbag too. The advanced engine immobilizer safeguards the vehicle from any theft and unauthorized entry. Apart from these, it also has door ajar and headlamps on warning notifications on instrument panel with buzzer.

Pros:
