Xcent 2014-2016 1.2 Kappa AT S Option Review
Hyundai Motors India Private Limited has officially launched the much awaited compact sedan, Xcent in the country. The company is offering this latest vehicle in numerous trim levels among which, the Hyundai Xcent 1.2 Kappa AT S Option is the mid level petrol variant. The company equipped this vehicle with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and paired it with a 4-speed automatic transmission gearbox. Despite being an automatic version, it is capable of giving an impressive mileage of 19.1 Kmpl, which is decent. On the other hand, the car maker is offering this trim with an optional package, which includes an anti-lock braking system and a classy set of 14-inch alloy wheels. The exteriors and interiors of this compact sedan looks quite modern and it will certainly attract the buyers. This vehicle comes equipped with number of features such as a manual AC unit, 2-DIN audio system with multi-functional steering wheel, central locking system, fabric seats, multi-information display, rear parking sensors and much more. Apart from these, it also comes with rear seat center armrest with cup holders, rear defogger, key less entry function and other advanced features. At present, the manufacturer is selling this compact sedan in six striking shades such as Red Passion, Phantom Black, Pristine Blue, Twilight Blue, Pure White and a Sleek Silver paint.
Exteriors
This mid level variant comes with most of the exterior aspects that are available in the top end variants. This newly introduced compact sedan comes on the same platform on which the Grand i10 hatch was built. To begin with, the front profile of this sedan comes fitted with body colored bumper that has trapezoidal air intake section with chrome surround. The front bumper also comes with a pair of dynamic fog lights, which will enhance the visibility ahead under foggy conditions. Just above the air dam, there is sleekly designed chrome garnished radiator grille fitted with the company's insignia. This grille is surrounded by the swept-back design headlight cluster, which is incorporated with powerful halogen lamps and turn indicators. On the side profile, the window sills and the B-Pillars have been coated with black color while the door handles along with ORVM caps have been painted with body color. As part of the optional package, this variant comes with 14 inch “Clean Silver” alloy wheels fitted to its wheel arches. The rear part of this sub 4 meter sedan is very decent yet stylish, thanks to the wraparound style taillight cluster. The boot lid has a compact structure and it is decorated with chrome plated strip, company logo and model badging. In a bid to improve the safety, the manufacturer also fitted the reflectors and a plastic cladding to the rear bumper. The overall look of this sub 4 meter sedan is quite attractive and will lure customers.
Interiors
The interior section of the Hyundai Xcent is done up with two-tone beige and black color scheme and it is complimented by the Blue illumination. The manufacture has given the chrome treatment to the gearshift knob, parking brake lever and to the steering wheel. On the other hand, the interior door handles have been coated with metal inserts, which will give a magnificent look to the cabin. The seats are very wide, well cushioned and are integrated with headrest for better comfort of the occupants. The manufacturer used the two-color fabric upholstery, which will provide a luxurious feel to the occupants. The dashboard in the cockpit section comes equipped with number of utility based features such as glove box cooling, manual AC unit, multi-information display and much more. In addition to these, the company also integrated a 2-DIN music system with Radio+CD+MP3 player that has AUX-In and USB ports along with Bluetooth connectivity.
Engine and Performance
This Hyundai Xcent 1.2 Kappa AT S Option trim is equipped with a sophisticated 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine that comes with MPFI fuel injection system. It comprises of 4-cylinders, 16 valves and runs on the DOHC valve configuration. It has a displacement capacity of 1197cc , which allows it to produce a power of 81.86Bhp at 6000rpm that results in generating commanding torque of 113.75Nm at 4000rpm. The manufacturer has skillfully coupled this engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission gearbox that delivers the torque to the front wheels. This engine powers the vehicle to produce a decent mileage figures of 19.1 Kmpl, which is rather good.
Braking and Handling
This latest sedan comes equipped with a motor driven electric power steering system that is highly responsive and reduces the efforts of driver by offering crisp steering feel. On the other hand, its front wheels come fitted with disc brakes while its rear wheels are assembled with drum brakes. This proficient braking combination is further enhanced by the anti lock braking system, which is incorporated as part of optional package. It is further loaded with gas type shock absorbers, which keeps the vehicle well balanced and deals with all the jerks caused on uneven roads.

This mid level variant is blessed with numerous important comfort features. The list includes a powerful manual air conditioning system with heater, rear AC vents, electric power steering system with tilt function, luggage lamp, driver seat height adjuster, a multi-functional steering wheel with Bluetooth call and audio control buttons, all four power windows with driver side auto down function, front and rear power outlets, and other necessary features. In addition to these, the company has also equipped an advanced instrument cluster along with a multi-information display that features digital clock, average vehicle speed and a dual trip meter.

The Hyundai Xcent 1.2 Kappa AT S Option is one of the mid level variants and it is available with additional safety aspects. As part of the optional package, this variant comes with anti-lock braking system, which will improve the braking mechanism.
