Xcent 2014-2016 1.1 CRDi S Option Review

Hyundai Xcent, a compact sedan is finally launched in the Indian car market. It is available in both petrol and diesel engine options in three trim levels, which are Base, S and SX. Among them, the Hyundai Xcent 1.1 CRDi S Option is the mid range variant and it is powered by a 1120cc diesel engine. This power plant is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection supply system, which has the ability of producing 24.4 Kmpl. The overall dimensions of this vehicle are quite decent. It comes with a spacious wheelbase of 2425mm along with a decent ground clearance. The total length is 3995mm and it has an overall width of 1660mm along with a height of 1520mm. It has 407 litre of boot space capacity along with a fuel tank capacity of about 43 litres. This sedan is being sold in quite a few exterior paint options, which are Red Passion, Twilight Blue, Pristine Blue, Phantom Black, Sleek Silver and a Pure White with metallic finish option for the buyers to select from. This trim has quite a few safety aspects, which are a central locking system, rear parking sensors, engine immobilizer, anti lock braking system and many other such aspects. In terms of interiors, this sedan is also bestowed with a number of features for the comfort of the occupants.

 

Exteriors:

 

This trim comes with captivating exteriors along with a number of striking features. To begin with the frontage, it is fitted with a chrome plated radiator grille, which is surrounded by a well designed headlight cluster. Below this grille, there is a body colored bumper that is incorporated with a couple of round shaped fog lamps and an air dam. The large windscreen is fitted with a pair of intermittent wipers. The slanting bonnet comes with a few visible character lines. Coming to the side profile, it is equipped with body colored door handles and outside rear view mirrors. These OVRMs are electrically adjustable and integrated with a side blinker as well. The pronounced wheel arches of this trim are fitted with a sturdy set of 14 inch alloy wheels, which are covered with 165/65 R14 sized tubeless radial tyres. There is also a spare wheel affixed in the boot compartment of this trim along with the tools required in changing a flat tyre. Then it also has waistline moldings and B-pillar blackout for enhancing the look of its side profile. On the other hand, the rear end it equipped with a chrome garnished boot lid, a body colored bumper and a radiant taillight cluster. The windscreen is fitted with a defogger and a high mounted stop lamp.

 

Interiors:

 

The insides of this Hyundai Xcent 1.1 CRDi S Option trim are designed with a black and beige color scheme and it also has blue interior illumination. The smooth dual tone dashboard is equipped with a cooling glove box, AC vents and an illuminated instrument panel with a few functions. Then the metal finished door handles, chrome plated gear shift knob as well as parking lever tip and a leather wrapped steering wheel, which gives it a classy look. This engine is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, which allows this sedan to deliver a healthy mileage. It is cleverly mated it with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which powers it to attain a maximum speed of 160 Kmph, which is rather good for this segment. While it takes close to 16-17 seconds for crossing the speed barrier of 100 Kmph from a standstill.

 

Braking and Handling:

 

The front wheels of this sedan are equipped with disc brakes, while the rear ones are fitted with drum brakes. This braking mechanism is augmented by anti lock braking system. On the other hand, the front axle is equipped with a McPherson strut type of system , whereas the rear is assembled with a coupled torsion beam axle type of mechanism. It is further accompanied by gas filled shock absorbers for all the wheels.

 

Comfort Features:

 

The company has bestowed this Hyundai Xcent 1.1 CRDi S Option trim with a lot of sophisticated features. It has an efficient air conditioner that comes with rear AC vents and a heater. This trim has an integrated 2-DIN music system with speakers, which comes with a few input options and Bluetooth connectivity. The multifunctional steering wheel is mounted with audio and call control buttons. This variant comes fitted with front and rear power outlet, all four power windows with driver side auto down function, a luggage lamp, sun visor with passenger side vanity mirror, driver seat with height adjustment function, power steering and a few more such aspects.
