At the 11th Auto Expo that was organized in New Delhi in January this, General Motors India introduced Chevrolet Sail UVA and Chevrolet Sail Sedan. Now, the company has finally launched its Sail UVA into the Indian car bazaar. The hatchback is very attractive and certainly was worth the wait. The car has been made with a lot of efforts and launching it during the Diwali season was absolutely correct move by the firm. But on the other hand, the car is facing a tough fight from its competitors including Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Toyota Etios Liva and Fiat Punto. What makes Chevrolet Sail UVA more attractive is the price. The car has been priced competitively and could be taken home at an affordable cost. The engine section of the car is also impressive as it has been powered by 1.2 litre of petrol motor churning out impressive power and torque. The five speed manual transmission coupled with the engine further takes the performance of the car a bit higher on the graph as expected. The looks of Chevrolet Sail UVA Petrol LS ABS are attractive and very alluring. The front of the car seems to be inspired from Cruze sedan with some sporty touch given to it. The outside appears to be big and huge accompanied by wide front grille with Chevy's signature bowtie logo. The rear is sporty and comes with chic tail lights. The interiors of this one are spacious, airy, fresh and very bright. This five-seater hatchback is filled with numerous comfort features that are successful in making the ride in UVA absolutely comfortable and soothing. Even on the safety front, the car isn't disappointing. The car comes with all basic safety features ranging from ABS, EBD, and brake assist to dual SRS airbags, seat belts and more.

Appearance

The looks of the new Chevrolet Sail UVA Petrol LS ABS are attractive and it certainly shows that the efforts that have been put in by the company. The Chevrolet Sail UVA exteriors are the perfect amalgamation of sportiness and sophistication. The looks of this one are absolutely way better than that of Aveo. However, certain things like the Chevy bowtie and wide front grille remains constant as other Chevrolet cars. The front of UVA hatchback is sharing its genes from Cruze sedan, but the sporty hints here make it appear more different and unique. The pair of headlamps is catchy and nicely designed bumper is quite cool. The fog lights and air vents have also been positioned nicely. The side profile of the car is exciting and features body colored door handles, body colored ORVMs and bold wheel arches fitted with alloy wheels . The electric sunroof might just grab your eye every time you see the hatchback. Coming to the rear part, the tail lights are carefully done and chicness is added by the rear spoiler and high mounted stop lamp.

Interiors

The new Chevrolet Sail UVA Petrol LS ABS comes with airy, fresh, bright and spacious interiors. The abundant legroom and headroom for all passengers is the major highlight here. Plus the dashboard done in high class quality material along with some chrome inserts in front cabin gives the interior much more superior and posh looks. The grey-beige color themed upholstery makes the cabin appear to be more sophisticated and airy. If compared to the Chevrolet Beat interiors, Sail UVA are of way better quality and are quite impressive in terms of appearance as well.

Comfort Features

The comfort level in the new Chevrolet Sail UVA Petrol LS ABS is top class. The company has taken care of the occupants and provided with numerous comfort traits that would leave no room for error and make the journey in Sail quite delightful. The car has 2-DIN audio system, which has radio, CD and Mp3 player along with Aux-in and USB interface . The air conditioning is efficient, but is present without climate control. The huge boot storage space for luggage is perfect. Also there is ample of storage for wallet, coins and other random accessories. The power steering is tilt adjustable minus the audio controls on it. The instrumental cluster is illuminated and the large sized speedometer display digital readouts.

Engine and Performance

General Motors India has blessed its new Chevrolet Sail UVA Petrol LS ABS hatch with a strong 1.2 litre of petrol engine that has been tweaked to give out peak power of 86PS @ 6000rpm along with producing maximum torque of 113Nm @ 5000rpm. The five speed manual gearbox coupled with this 1199cc makes the car performance to touch a higher notch in the graph. The mileage and fuel efficiency of the car is impressive as well. On the city roads, the car manages to deliver 15kmpl of mileage, while on the highways, the car gives out fuel economy of 18.2kmpl. When accelerated, Sail UVA catches up a top speed of 145kmph and touches the 100kmph speed mark in 14 seconds , which is quite decent.

Braking and Handling

The braking system of Chevrolet Sail UVA Petrol LS ABS is strong and very sturdy. The front wheels are present with the ventilated disc brakes, while the rear ones have drum brakes. This brake system is further enhanced with the presence of anti lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution system and brake assist . The suspension system comprising of McPherson Strut with Coil Spring and Stabilizer bar for the front and Semi-independent with Coil Spring for the rear makes the handling smooth and stable. The power tilt adjusting steering wheel further enhances the overall handling of the car.

Safety Features

The safety section of Chevrolet Sail UVA Petrol LS ABS is top class and comes with all the basic safety features, which are now a days a complete necessity. The car will come with Anti Lock braking system with Electronic brake force distribution system and brake assist . The presence of dual SRS airbags safeguards the driver and front co-passenger during an accident. the 3-point ELR seat belts are there for all passengers, with front fog lamps, child safety door locks, door open warning alarm and engine immobilizer.
