Q3 2012-2015 Dynamic Review
Audi India has introduced a new variant in its entry level Q3 SUV series in the country. It is christened as Audi Q3 Dynamic and it comes equipped with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine under its hood. This new trim has all the features that are already available in the existing Premium Plus variant. In addition to those, it is bestowed with features like a panoramic glass roof, a new set of stylish 17-inch alloy wheels and an advanced Audi drive select function. In addition to these, it is also blessed with an off-road styling package that includes a radiator grille with vertical chrome bars, stainless steel under body protection, wheel arch extensions, door trim strips and side air inlets. These aspects give a rugged appeal to this SUV and makes it look intimidating. Its interiors too gets a minor update in the form of a multifunctional steering wheel with leather upholstery and a high gloss package with walnut wood inserts that gives a classy look to the cabin. Apart from these, it is also incorporated with a 5.8-inch retractable MMI screen and an audio package with a total of 10 speakers. This SUV will now face the likes of Mercedes Benz ML Class, Volvo XC 60 and BMW X3 in the Indian automobile market.
Exteriors:
This latest variant carries the same body structure like its other variants, but its off-road styling package and exclusively designed features gives it a refined look. Its front facade is fitted with a large hexagonal shaped radiator grille that has vertically positioned chrome bars. It is flanked by a sleek headlight cluster that is powered by xenon plus headlamps along with turn indicators and signature LED daytime running lights . The front bumper has a dual tone look with black protective cladding along with an aluminum under guard, which gives a distinct look to its front. Its side profile has off-road design based wheel arch extensions that are skilfully fitted with a set of 17-inch cast aluminum alloy wheels. These rims are covered with a set of terrain capable radial tubeless tyres of size 235/55 R17. Its window sills and B pillars are in high gloss black while the external wing mirrors and door handles are painted in body color. This latest variant has a clear lens taillight cluster that is equipped with LED brake lights and turn indicators, which gives a sophisticated look to its rear profile.
Interiors:
This Audi Q3 Dynamic is done up with an attractive dual tone color scheme that is further emphasized by high gloss black inserts. Its dashboard looks elegant with walnut wood inserts and it houses a large glove box , AC unit and other utility features. In addition to these, it also house a retractable 5.8-inch MMI screen that provides touch controls for several functions of this SUV. This trim also has a multi function steering wheel that is wrapped with premium leather upholstery. Its cockpit is fitted with well cushioned individual seats that are covered with leatherette upholstery. Both the front seats are electrically adjustable while the rear bench seat has split folding facility, which helps to increase luggage space. There are number of utility features given inside the cabin like front sun visors with vanity mirror, accessory power sockets, drink holders and other necessary features.
Engine and Performance:
This variant is powered by a 2.0-litre, In-line diesel engine, which can displace 1968cc. This 4-cylinder based motor has an exhaust gas turbocharging function that helps in churning out a 174.3bhp of power at 4200rpm in combination with a peak torque output of 320Nm between 1750 to 2500rpm . It is cleverly mated with a 7-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission gear box, which transmits the engine power to all its wheels. It allows the SUV to attain a top speed of 212 Kmph, while it can cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph in close to 8.2 seconds from a standstill. This power plant is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, which allows it to generate a maximum mileage of 15.73 Kmpl.
Braking and Handling:
All its wheels are equipped with disc brakes and are further enhanced by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution and hydraulic brake assist function . The front axle comes equipped with McPherson spring strut with lower wishbones. While its rear axle is assembled with a 4-link type of mechanism, which has separate damper arrangement function. Apart from these, the company has also equipped it with traction control, electronic differential lock, hill start assist function and electronic stabilization program. It has a rack and pinion based electromechanical power steering system, which is speed sensitive and makes handling effortless.
Comfort Features:
This Audi Q3 Dynamic trim is bestowed a deluxe automatic air conditioning unit, which has air quality sensor, combined filter, separate defroster button and pre-selectable control for driver. It electronically regulates the air temperature, flow rate and air distribution. The advanced driver information system displays radio frequency, phone menu, external temperature and door/tail gate open warning indicator . It also has an advanced Audi sound system, which comes with ten speakers, voice dialogue system and Bluetooth connectivity. Apart from these, it also has cruise control, parking aid plus, auto release function, folding rear seat back, electrically adjustable front seats and many other such aspects.
Safety Features:
This latest variant is bestowed with many crucial safety aspects that offers maximum protection not only to its passengers, but to the vehicle as well. It has full size front airbags, which safeguards the occupants in case of collision. The electronic immobilization device avoids any unauthorized entry into the vehicle . All the seats are equipped with three point inertia-reel seat belts with force limiters, tensioners and height adjustment function for front seats. It has an acoustic and visual warning seat belt reminder for all seats that reminds its occupants to fasten them. The electronic stability program provides better stability by targeted braking of individual wheels. The instrument cluster displays notifications like door ajar warning and seat belt reminder. It has an anti-lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution and hydraulic brake assist. Besides these, it comes with child proof locks for the rear doors, integrated head restraint system, first aid kit with warning triangle, parking assist and a traction control system.
