BMW X1 Interior

Editor's take : The interior of the X1 is a typical BMW, and the front row is spacious. It is the second row that is a tad tight on knee room, and it has to as the X1 is ideally a driver’s car.

Much-awaited compact premium SUV of BMW- BMW X1 - comes with sound design job inside. However, it is not up to BMW standards. When you step in its cabin, you feel like you're sitting in an ordinary car. The company has still, however, loaded the cabin with everything possible. The dashboard comes in dual tone styling, it houses instrument cluster, AC vents, audio system, glovebox, etc. The instrument panel comes with twin dials that sports speedometer, tachometer, fuel level and consumption. The instrumentation is just like every other BMW clear and functional.

The steering wheel is wrapped in leather; it is added with mounted controls on its two side spokes. The front cabin of BMW X1 is spacious that ensures sufficient headroom, legroom, shoulder room and hip room: the front armrest comes with sliding adjustment. The standard seats can be adjusted manually for height, fore and aft position. Front seat belts are inertia reel with pyrotechnical belt latch tensioner and belt force limiter while the rear seat belts are three with inertia reel. The seats are decorated with gold stripe across the seat backrest. The rear seat row might not be comfortable for those who are heavier. Moreover, its too small to accommodate three passengers. Power sockets are positioned at front centre console and in armrest compartment.

The upcoming BMW X1 is speculated to be featured with front and rear electric windows with open and close fingertip control, the windows are heat insulated and tinted all round. There is enough storage space inside the car with superb illumination; ambient lighting, illuminated glove compartment, Illumination for vanity mirrors, illuminated luggage compartment, courtesy lights front and rear, front footwell lights, front and rear reading lights; storage compartments in centre console, dashboard and front interior door panels, cup holder in centre console.

The company has not only paid attention to the safety of the passenger but also has ensured distinctive comfort level by loading the BMW X1 with several features. The multi-functional three spoke steering wheel is wrapped in leather and can be adjusted as per the requirement of the driver. The front and rear windows can be opened and closed with fingertip control; they are heat-insulated and tinted all around. There are head restraints for front and rear seats while the front seat comes with sliding adjustment.

The BMW X1 is designed to give more storage space to the passengers; the storage space is available in the form of centre console, dashboard and front interior door panels, luggage compartment - illuminated with four lashing eyes in boot floor and additional storage on each side and under floor, Cup holder in centre console. It is expected that the compact SUV will be available with more or less same features in India although, the company may trim some features to keep the cost low for the country.

BMW X1 Engine and Performance

BMW X1 Engine

Editor's take : The 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine on the X1 is quick enough for this compact SUV, and does a 0-100km/hr in under 9 seconds. The performance of this diesel was much better than the petrol, hence BMW discontinued the petrol engine.

The upcoming car BMW X1 is brought here in India with more or less same engine and other features as loaded in overseas model. The model is launched in India with three variants and will share two engine configuration which will produce tremendous power, torque as well as acceleration. The beautiful SUV is equipped with four-cylinder diesel engine with common-rail technology, 16 valve that produces a peak power of 130 kW/177 hp and 350 Nm at 1,750 to 3,000 rpm. Moreover the 110 kW/150 hp four-cylinder petrol version of the BMW X1 is capable enough to churn out maximum torque of 200 Nm at 3,600 rpm reaching its maximum output at 6,400 rpm.
