Vento 1.0 TS आई Trendline रिव्यू

Volkswagen Vento 1.6 Trendline is the entry level variant in this model series. This sedan gets a few cosmetic changes to its exteriors and interiors, whereas its technical specifications remains unchanged. It is incorporated with the same 1598cc in-line petrol engine under the hood that is based on a DOHC based valve configuration. This four cylinder motor is integrated with a multi point fuel injection system. It can generate a peak power of 103.5bhp in combination with torque of 153Nm. This latest version has a spacious cabin that is updated with darker shade of beige. The company has designed its exteriors with a revamped bumper, three slat radiator grille, new 3D effect tail light cluster and so on. It has been offered with some standard safety features like three point front seat belts, high mount third brake light, rear fog lamps and some other vital aspects. It is bestowed with a disc and drum braking mechanism, which is quite efficient. Moreover, the presence of speed sensitive electronic power assisted steering system enables convenient handling by providing good response. This sedan comes with a standard warranty of two years or unlimited kilometers, whichever is earlier. This period can be further extended up to two years or 100000 Kilometers at an additional cost. It is also being offered with roadside assistance for a period of two years along with 3-year warranty for paint work. 

Exteriors:

The manufacturer has introduced this new version by giving some major updates to its exteriors. The front facade gets a modified bonnet with a few visible character lines. It has a sleek black finished headlight cluster that features powerful halogen lamps and turn indicators. The new radiator grille has three horizontally positioned slats and is embedded with a prominent company logo in the center. The bumper is in body color and is equipped with a wide air dam for cooling the engine quickly. The windscreen is made of heat insulating glass that includes a couple of intermittent wipers with 4-step speed setting. Its side profile remains unchanged with body colored door handles and outside mirrors. The neatly crafted wheel arches have been equipped with a sturdy set of 14-inch steel wheels. These rims are further covered with tubeless radial tyres and full wheel caps. The rear end includes an expressive boot lid with the company's badge that is treated with chrome. The tail light cluster as well as bumper further gives an attractive look of its rear profile. At the same time, this latest version comes with slight modifications in its dimensions. Its overall length, width and height are 4390mm, 1699mm and 1467mm respectively. Its minimum ground clearance is 163mm, while the wheelbase measures about 2553mm. 

Interiors:

This facelifted version has a spacious internal cabin that is furnished with well cushioned seats. These seats are covered with superior upholstery, which gives a plush feel while traveling. There is a lot of leg and shoulder room available inside that adds to the comfort of its occupants. The cockpit is designed with an elegant dashboard that is equipped with a central console, instrument cluster, air vents and a flat-bottomed designed steering wheel. It has an advanced instrument panel that features a digital tachometer, speedometer, odometer, trip odometer and few other notifications for keeping the driver alert. There are several utility based aspects available like sun glass holder inside glove box compartment, bottle holders, three grab handles along with coat hooks, rear doors with storage compartments as well as cup holders in front doors. Apart from these, it also includes trunk illumination and a 12V power outlet in central console that helps in charging electronic devices. 

Engine and Performance:

Under the hood, this variant is equipped with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which comes with a displacement capacity 1598cc. It carries four cylinders and sixteen valves using a double overhead camshaft based valve configuration. It is integrated with a multi point fuel injection system that enables it to deliver a maximum mileage of 15.04 Kmpl on highways and 12.02 Kmpl within the city limits. This motor has the ability of generating a peak power of 103.56bhp at 5250rpm and yields 153Nm of torque output at 3800rpm. It is mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox that distributes the torque output to its front wheels. This sedan requires around 10.7 seconds to cross the 100 Kmph speed mark from a standstill and attains a top speed of about 185 Kmph, which is rather impressive. 

Braking and Handling:

The front wheels are equipped with a set of sturdy ventilated discs, while the rear ones have drum brakes. The suspension system is quite proficient which helps to keep the vehicle stable on any road condition. The front axle is assembled with a McPherson strut along with a stabilizer bar, while the rear one is affixed with a semi-independent trailing arm type of mechanism. On the other hand, it has an electronic power assisted steering system that supports a minimum turning radius of 5.4 meters. This tilt adjustable steering wheel is speed sensitive and makes it easy to maneuver on city roads. 

Comfort Features:

This entry level variant is blessed with some innovative comfort features that ensure a pleasurable driving experience to its occupants. These include a height adjustable driver's seat, speed sensitive power steering system, electric trunk opening, all four power windows, rear defogger, co-passenger vanity mirror sun blind and a front intermittent wiper with 4-step variable speed setting. It has an air conditioning system that includes dust and pollen filter along with rear air vents for cooling the entire cabin in no time. In addition to these, this trim has also rear parking sensors, lane change indicator, ticket holder and a radio preparation including roof antenna. 

Safety Features:

Being the entry level variant, it is equipped with standard safety features only. The list includes height adjustable headrests, manual day/night internal rear view mirror, a central locking system, rear fog lights and a high mount third brake light. In addition to these, it also has three point front seat belts and an electronic engine immobilizer with floating code for preventing the vehicle from any unauthorized entry. 

Pros:

1. External appearance is quite attractive.
2. Robust suspension system provides better comfort.

Cons:

1. Mileage is not as good as other competitors.
2. There is still scope for improving its interior design.
